try iMovie. Great editor for apple products. Music: upload a file to the video, and click the symbols on the video.

I used Final Cut Pro X, it is basically the big brother to iMovie. However, it can run you up to $300. Any basic editing software, like windows movie maker, or iMovie should have an option to separate audio, then delete it, then overlay music. iMovie is what I started editing on, its great. Recording, I have a macbook pro, which has a built in screen recorder. However, I suggest OBS or Fraps.

EDIT: Splitting clips is pretty simple, if you need any help let me know. If worst comes to worst you can send me the video and tell me how you want it edited.

For recording OBS (just watch a tutorial it has no advertisement of the product and is free) and for editing I use shotcut, its also free and you can add music, slides and different clips.

For recording software I would suggest Bandicam because a lot of people use it and it's quite good from what I can tell. I don't use a screen recorder actually lol. But if you're looking to get clips from the internet and wanna record them, I suggest you get a video recording software on your phone and find it and use it on your phone. From there just upload it to google drive and download it from there on your PC. Works everythime ;).

For editing software I use YouTube editor. It sucks and it's annoying. But it's good for adding captions ad transitions. But honestly windows movie maker would be better, for general use.

Honestly Adobe premiere Pro is waay better. I've used it couple times at my school. It's the best.

Also, I use Hitfilm to edit. It gets a little to get used to. I use it for all my current videos. Very professional software.
you can also use audacity. It's a great program to edit audio.

I see your point. Generally I don't make videos that are 10 minutes long, just because people aren't willing to watch it lol. My videos are short and sweet just like Clinton's email server :p Check it out if you want. Link is here
