Hello! I have been asked to make this suggestion for someone else and I truly hope this would be implemented, because not only would it make a huge change for the Mapart Community, but also anything related to decorating and interior designs. Maybe even for storage systems. Since it is already possible for maparts to be made transparent, we just need for item frames to be made transparent, otherwise transparent maps will be pointless due to being able to see the item frame itself. Here are some examples of how transparent maparts with transparent item frames would look like: Here is what it would look like when you add glass as a platform to make the map transparent: As you can see, the item frame is visible behind the transparent part of the map but the map itself is transparent where the glass is placed. We could do so many things with transparent item frames. I really hope this is possible.

Support. I've also posted already suggestions about toggleable invisible item frames. They'd make mapart so much cooler, and displaying items more immersive
My Halloween fun house maze last year would look so cool with transparent item frames. Not only do they allow for cool item and mapart displays, but with full maparts, such as block texture maparts, they display on the block face itself that the item frame is on. You could have a block of glowstone for example, and using invisible itemframes and a netherite block texture, make your own netherite blocks that look legit
Full support without a shadow of a doubt. This opens so many doors to decoration alone, not to mention the other uses people have already found for maps. We have the ability to make transparent maps, just need the item frames. Naturally, I cant forget to mention the implications this would have on the Mapart Museum Drago and I run. We've been wanting to find a way to "center" larger maps on the extending walls, and even width maparts don't fit cleanly. Transparent frames would allow people to make maps on Rebane without having to crop them, allowing even width maps to fit cleanly on our displays. This, in addition to PC's idea to prevent resale would be revolutionary to the already massive mapart scene on the server.
I think it's cool as long as the recipie is different for the transparant item frames as I do use item frames for other things. So : Item Frame : Glow Frame : Transparent Frame : Glow Transparent Frame ??? But yes i see the idea and concept is cool Support.
There is a vanilla tweaks data pack that works with standalone vanilla minecraft, and it allows the option of toggling item frames invisible or visible, as explained in the screenshot. So that could be an alternative option to use them without a custom crafting recipe
Crew prefers in-house solutions as much as possible so I doubt he'd install the datapack from vanillatweaks, especially since AFAIK fine grained datapack permissions aren't too easy to do.
Full support. This would go hard with some maparts. Props to whoever suggested this. I love the idea!
Yeah ik, the screenshot also mentions there's newer versions available other than the vanilla tweaks datapack. It's just one possible way it could be introduced through commands, or as custom craft recipe or something
Thanks for posting this for me, Devil. I think this could help revolutionize the mapart community on our server. I'm constantly thinking up new ways to innovate maparts here, and want to make this a worthwhile endeavor for everyone involved.
Love love LOVE this. This would open SO many new possibilities and make decorations for builds almost limitless. I’d commission this a lot honesty if it got implemented.
