I am making this thread to discuss the ethicality of moving discussions posted in the discussion forum to the off-topic forum. What do you guys think? I think that moderators should not do this.
When things are blatantly posted to up post count, I don't think there's a problem moving it to off topic. If it's a genuine discussion to do with the server, it shouldn't be moved unless there's a very valid reason.
If it has nothing to do with the server, our forums or our discord, it does not belong in the discussion section. We have different sections for a reason.
Since moving spam to off topic is not acceptable, I will delete them instead. Or would that too get a thread made
The threads were spared as a nice gesture. They could have been deleted for spam or post farming but moving them preserves ratings. Just ask why an action happened or find out without taking a side. Staff do make mistakes but no staff intentionally goes around messing around with threads without a good reason. Yes, we need to encourage discussion but we shouldn't forget the rules of the forums. Had the op made one thread it would have stayed in discussion. Since op spammed threads for post count, all threads were moved. Sorry if it is difficult to gain post count these days. But the answer isn't spamming the forums.
The discussion forum is defined as: 'Talk about server or forum stuff in this section. Any off-topic is not allowed.' So if a thread isn't legitimately talking about the server or the forum, then it should be moved to another section where it belongs. After all, we have those different sections for a reason.
