That’s very much on topic as it’s precisely why you would need a proper receipt for your purchase as is required by the EULA.
That's true. The only receipt given would be a Paypal receipt, and not a Skyblock shop receipt which you need the transaction ID from that for to recover tanks.
I'm also of the mindset that Cyp made things like that available through personal drive and not via proper interaction with Crew. Cyp and Crew were/are both very young for the enterprise they managed to build in the server's popularity and money was just about the only motivating factor for either of them, but I'm not positive what Cyp's cut of the deal was in the position he was given, if it was low it would certainly explain this literal backstab move. A lot of shady things happened behind the scenes on all of Crew's servers, this was simply one of the many things that had been going on.
So long as they claimed the income on their tax return because the IRS will audit that far back. Violation the Minecraft EULA might get them a slap on the wrist but avoiding taxes would draw a harsher penalty.
I believe the "Friends and Family" money distribution helps alleviate some of that with some tax exemptions. You aren't taxed for handing your friends of family a $100 bill, you shouldn't be taxed for doing so digitally. Same to be said vice versa.
I’m not sure what you mean by that. If you sell a product to a consumer it needs to be declared as income. Companies can’t just put $1000’s worth of sales through PayPal and claim the money came from transactions with friends and family to avoid taxes.
This is part of why the activity the Cyp was involved in is morally deprived. Also, I'm not certain Cyp was American, meaning the IRS has little to do with him.
Again, a major part of this was the discussion on the way Cyp handled the transaction. By requiring that people give him the additional money for D400 via Paypal as a "friends and Family" payment. It means that he likely gave his own personal account info and not the business info, which says Crew saw $0 of it. It also means that the transaction wasn't made as part of the "business", even if Crew did see any of that money. There is also the concept that the money obtained was a donation. This means that if Crew and/or Cyp properly filed as a non-profit then taxes wouldn't be levied anyway. Note that all of this is speculation and not the actual facts of the matter.
Oh yeah. It's definitely just speculation but interesting all the same. The transaction involved virtual items and perks of the server so the business was certainly involved, even if the money only went into Cyp's pocket. Using company funds for personal purposes is most definitely illegal. It wasn't a donation as donations don't involve the donor receiving something in return. And as you said earlier, this seemed to occur on Noobcrews other servers as well. There is still discussions on the Mineverse forums of payments into Cyp's personal PayPal account.
from what i recall, one of the main perks cyp was offering was an item from creative mode (he let you pick any item). this was definitely never an “official” rank package, and was 100% done by cypriot alone without crew’s knowledge or involvement. a few other perks that were d400 exclusive were access to every single kit access to /invsee (view only) access to /fix all one time creative mode item on classic (this was replaced with /kit elytra when skyblock came out) there definitely wasn’t any reciept given, these transactions were being made by cyp basically under the table with his personal paypal account. in addition, the rank was never officially listed on the store, because it was never an official rank.
Oh yeah and Stel paid Cypriot an extra like 200 bucks for /tp so she can tp to anyone without them needing to accept You could also pay Cyp a bit less just for a creative item only
