I'd just like to quickly apologize for my ban. It was a mistake on my part, as I thought a rule was still the same, but indeed, it was altered. It was my fault for not understanding.

Great app. Don't know you really well and rarely seen you in-game (because I rarely play), but after reading this post I can already tell that you're really kind and will be a great moderator. Support.

I finally got over to this section of the forums again and I wanted to say, full support. You're active, kind and knowledgeable (the fact you're a senior member is something to keep in mind too).
It's always a pleasure talking to you on TS.

EDIT: Oh and good luck ;)

Suggested listening: Youngblood Hawk, We Come Running

If every day is a new start this afternoon nearly ended me. Still coming down off the heart attack that is Myrmwife driving me through the suburbs. So much adrenaline in my system I can't even describe the feeling; this is exactly like that time when the E.R. nurse mixed up Narcan with epinephrine.

Need somewhere to put this energy. Let's review.

    You're welcome! Loving the enthusiasm!!

Nice to meet you, Ms. Natalia.

Thank you for getting this question right on the first try. Why do so many North American applications list crazy things like "MST" and "Texas" and expect everyone to understand what that means...

    MuricaKillYouSleeping.jpg
    +1 for 'Murica!

    UnhappyManagement.jpg
    Not. Limited. Enough.

    -1 for 'Murica.

Don't list languages in your application that you cannot fully communicate in.
If you are not comfortable enough in a language to explain (in French) why island farming and co-op grieving is illegal then do not list the language.

If you are good enough to do that please drop the "limited" from your qualification and make it a real asset.

YouTube to upload?? Please provide a link to your channel, I would enjoy taking this review to another platform.

Waaaaaaaiiiiiiiittttttt...! Let me get a comfy pillow, a fresh drink and lock the door. I have a feeling this one is going to need my full attention.

    Alright, I'm settled. PROCEED.

Excellent start, +1. Clearly listed your quality and why it matters to the job you're applying for. When you have a moment* add one or two lines about how you personally exhibit this trait. For example: "I work through stressful situations by breaking them down into a list of issues to be handled".

*You can safely ignore my recommendations. These reviews are fecal flavored tap water.

If you keep this up I'm going to be throwing more approval at you than Trump tosses at Putin.

Recommendation: Add in how you would transform your personal knowledge into direct help. Example: "I can pass along these tips/tricks to new players to help them start off better and make them want to stick around".

    Just Stop.jpg
    Hold up there, Jeff Sessions.

Everyone is biased. We all have opinions on subjects ranging from Doritos to the Death Penalty. This is why the legal system recognizes the idea of recusal (sometimes called "judicial disqualification")-- it is almost impossible to separate your personal opinions and bias from real-world decisions. Even trained experts have difficulties with this.

How about a different approach here? Something like "I am aware of my own opinions and know when to hand an issue to another Moderator in order to be as fair as possible"?

This is an excellent qualification and may not need to be changed at all-- everything else about your paragraph is bang-on perfect. Unfortunately part of the problem with reviewing these posts is separating the things people say just to get promoted from the stuff they really meant about themselves. Sometimes it is hard to tell if you really meant what you post here or if you didn't understand the difference.

Up to you whether or not this gets changed. My opinions don't matter on whether or not you are selected, ma'am.

"I'm good at not punishing people for every little thing"
"[...]would not be fun for people if mods muted [them] for every accidental spam"
    --Natalia, February 2017

I understand the idea of judicial discretion and you get a lot of respect from me for alluding to it here. However, comma, this is a job application: Are you really interesting in telling the person promoting you that you're not 100% on board with punishing rule breaking?

+1 for honesty. May I suggest a rephrase to show your opinion in the best possible light? Something like "Temperance: I understand about having 'bad days' and can scale back on how I deal with people breaking the rules without compromising my integrity"?

    Or just ignore me. Meh.

This is hot garbage. I see what you were trying for ("grace under fire") but the way you've worded this sounds banal and meaningless.

Instead of "quick thinking" may I suggest trying something like "sound judgment", or "cool in a crisis"? Both of these sound less like you are making up your own rule interpretations on the fly. The impression you want to give is someone who can follow through on punishment guidelines in a fast, efficient manner. Which is kind of the qualification for this particular job: Handling a firehose of crap in an expedient way.

    Objection.jpeg
Counsel's statement is not in the correct location!

There is an entire block of the application under the heading "Do you have experience?" -- you can move this down to there, ma'am.

Or not. This entire paragraph has no content worth digesting. If you don't know what you're doing, you can't do it right...? Getting a lawyer that has never gone to law school...? None of this paragraph is about you or your qualifications, this is just a couple of obvious aphorisms padding a paragraph.

Remove or rephrase into something that makes you the best promotion candidate.

The word you are looking for is "Impartial". Moderators are impartial when applying punishments for specific actions.

Point of order: Why are you saying the same thing twice? If this is really the same as the "unbiased" qualification please combine these two paragraphs and make a better one. Don't pad your application unnecessarily, ma'am.

So you are annoyed at certain people? Unintentional slip...? Remove or rephrase this line to something like "I am nice or polite to all players regardless of how badly they act to me"-- all of the benefits, none of the possible favoritism.

Consider a minor rephrase?: "When I'm not enforcing a rule I try to be friendly with players"-- implies a strong stance on doing the job first without sacrificing your position as a community ambassador.

    •glances at schedule•

    Absolutely not. I call bullshit.

A minimum of seven hours per day, with an utterly soul destroying twenty-eight hours on Friday/Saturday?? That is literally impossible to uphold. The most dedicated moderator I am aware of doesn't put in 28 hours in two days. You would get wrecked harder than Dale Earnhardt at Daytona.

You are volunteering for 60+ hours per week at an unpaid job. Federal law actually prohibits people from working that much because of health concerns... and that law was enacted during World War 2.

Killing actual Nazis wasn't enough to make people work 60+ hours per week. Why on Earth are you trying to volunteer for it? Balance your personal time with your hobby or face burnout. Recommend scaling back your commitment by about 55%. Up to you, though.

    +1 for community experience.

Shorten this to "Five times, forums only. I rated 'Like' on posts too often".

Don't go into extreme detail about your bans or justifications. The people already involved in your bans (admins, Moderators) already know the details and they don't need a reminder about why you shouldn't be promoted. Just acknowledge and move on.

    AngryFace.jpg
    #WastedPotential

Did you kill them? Not accusing, just curious ma'am.

Experience is the #1 thing that gets people hired for any job, on- or off-line. Please list what you have experience with.

What did you do on those other servers? Were you in charge of investigating grief accusations? Did you run the pixelart-of-the-week contest? Did you listen to players cry over their bad grades? It is nice that you held a title... but what were your responsibilities?

    For example:
"Do you have any past experience as a moderator?
Yes. I was a former admin on a Hellblock server that averaged 40 players/day. I was in charge of handling player abuse complaints and refunding items to users that were unfairly targeted. I handled 11+ cases a week and led a panel of rule experts that kept the server balanced."

REMOVE THIS. You're committing to a 60+ hour work week! Why are you throwing out lines about how you have trouble committing to responsibilities? #WaitWut o_O

Which is it, ma'am? Can you be relied on to be there for your self-inflicted schedule or are you going to drop out "a few times per year"? Why are you mentioning your past problems in a job application?

REMOVE. Do not list reasons to skip your application in your own appeal for promotion. If your anxiety issues are gone then simply stop mentioning them: They don't matter. Bringing it up hurts your chances.

REMOVE. You have a rather good application, ma'am. Stop shooting yourself in the foot right before the finish line.

You are quite welcome, that was fun to read. My opinions do not matter on the promotion process, but if I had any input on your application I would probably say you need a bit more self-confidence and a good mentor. Regardless:
