Don't delete Windows Explorer, that will mess up your system, uninstall internet explorer.

Even tho you uninstalled it, like others already mentioned, theres still gonna be traces left on your computer.
Install a malware cleaner (Norman Antimalware or Anti Malwarebytes), run a full scan (may take some time, depends on how much you've filled your harddisk). If it asks you to restart your computer, do that. Do it as long till it doesn't find any infected files anymore.

After that, run a virus scan with your antivirus software (If you don't have one, I suggest Avast. It's free and really good.)
Do the same thing: Scan till it doesn't find anything anymore.
You should be good after that.

Edit: Norman Antimalware is really good, since you don't have to install it. Depending on the infection on your computer, there exists malware which prevents you to install any malware/antivirus related software on your computer, so that's really good. If you're able to create a boot USB-Stick with an OS (Operating System) on it, do that. Linux is the best for that.

    Yes it is.

If you don't like it, suggest another one.
I work in the IT fields, and avast NEVER caused problems like other free AV software. (AVG, McAfee, Avira..).
It also does a boot-scan (Means after it found a serious infection it launches another scan before booting up the OS, prevents that any virus in the bootloader can be re-loaded after a wipe.).
If you want to have something more stable, purchase one, like Kaspersky or Norman. You'd have to renew your license every year though.

AVG, MalwareBytes.. legitimately, anything is better than Avast.. besides McAffee, that's just terrible.
Avast is the IE of Anti-Virus programs.

Malwarebytes is NOT an Antivirus. Its for malware.
    Malware =/ Virus.
AVG is average. It was good, but the new GUI really sucks and overall it kinda slows down your whole OS.
I agree with you, McAfee is the worst of them.
But everyone's got their oppinion on AV Software. Some even like Norton ;o)

By the way, if you're not fan of the Voice-over alerts ("Your AV Database has been updated!" on Avast, you can turn them off.

Microsoft Essentials picked up a virus Avast didn't :t

I had something similar to this. Have you tried a system restore yet?
