Look.. I have seen many people ask a moderator to archive there moderator application because a lot of people are getting it before them but how do you know that you wont ever get picked huh

What I do is after every promotion just keep your hopes up you never know what's going to happen

    Just have hope.

That was a spectacular gravedig. But yes, this needs to be brought back up. There really is almost no reason to lock your mod application unless you have no interest in ever being mod, or are quitting the server or Minecraft. Even if you've given up hope, leave it open. Cause the only difference between locking and leaving it up is the POSSIBILITY of getting mod.

This is human nature, some can bounce back instantly but others it takes time. I have terrible resilience, if I'm told no it hits me straight in the feels and puts me in a 'I give up' mindset, I was always told off in school for it. It's not something you can instantly improve nor should it be.

Think of it like a job, for every good position, theirs 500 people applying, you need to outshine them, but not outshine them that you blind yourself in the process.

Never thought I would say this, but thanks for gravedigging it. I could fit right into the category of giving up/locking my app category, but I don't. I don't help for the position. I'm not giving up, even after my app has been open for almost a year. I made a mistake recently, I accept me needing more time for this. Yes, inside I still feel the bitter crumbling when someone gets moderator position. I'm over it. I promised so in my app, it shall stay so. I won't flame on people, reducing my chances. The time will arrive eventually if you're the right one. You just have to keep your head up and keep trying.

I have had my Mod app since April. Warguy is the only one who has given me support. I have been helping people, I enjoy helping people. I am recently selling a 25$ upgrade. I like helping out but I just cant explain myself enough to get Mod. I either need to just act like a normal dude on skyblock.net, or keep trying. I not sure which one to do.

This is a wonderful thread, Krissy , and one that everyone who applied for mod should look at. I actually feel like players who have their app locked and request tempbans and stuff don't deserve mod because it shows how that player is unable to handle something not working out the way he/she wanted it to in a calm, logical way.

So far 2 (or more) people have locked their app after promotions. This is plain sad.

I thought I'd posted here before. >.> I guess I never did, just thought about it. lol

Let's be brutally honest, I think everyone considers locking their app at one point or another, I know I did when I applied.

I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone, but I know that having an app open made me ridiculously insecure. The longer it was open without being accepted (and with the knowledge that it likely wouldn't be denied even if Cyp had decided never to promote me), the more time I had to think. I never worried about the app itself, although I wrote it in 5 hours (short for me :p), though I suppose wondering about if the app is good enough and changing it constantly could definitely play on the mind. I had a lot of people telling me that I would change if I got mod, and I thought about that quite a bit (I hope it hasn't changed me too much. :p). I spent most of the time wondering if I would be any good as a mod, and the longer the app was open, the more nervous I was that I wouldn't make a good mod.

Every time I wanted to close my app, I went to my friends first. Some of them threatened me to keep it open (since some of them were mods, one even threatened that they would just reopen it every time I tried to close it). XD Others actually gave me some good advice and helped to calm me down. :) So, if you're at that point and thinking about locking your app...

    1) Mods are just people. Whatever flaws or qualities you're coming up with that are making you think you're not good enough for mod, there might already be a mod who shares those qualities with you!
    2) "Eh... just leave it open." XD That was one of my favs. But basically, if it sits open without responses, closing it isn't going to be any different. Except that closing it is like saying "No, I don't want mod anymore.", while leaving it open is like "I'd still like to be mod someday". Remember that you can always edit it as you change, and the admins may see it even after everyone else has forgotten.
    3) You should want mod to help people, but without those added perms, there's still a lot you can do to help. Just enjoy the game, enjoy the people and do what you can. Even if you never get mod, you can still be an amazing asset to the community.

If you're thinking about locking your app, talk to your friends... talk to your supporters. Read through your app and comments and really think it over. If you lock your app, it should be because you don't want to be a mod anymore, not because you want to give up on it. There's no harm in leaving your app open and just ignoring it. In the meanwhile, just embrace skyblock. Time flies when you're having fun and soon enough you won't even remember how long it's been open. :p Maybe someday you'll get that mod prefix. ;)

Good luck to everyone applying.
