I remember when I couldn't get on the server because the max player limit of 500 was exceeded. I think a couple of factors cause the lack of players. Updates, new plug-ins, and addons could make the server more popular. Other servers adding skyblock also affects this server. To boost the popularity, adding new things and being friendly with the people who join could cause the server's popularity to rise. The fact that skyblock is a build and talk server and not a fast-paced action server also affects our player count as lots of people are looking for factions and such.
Money isn't an issue for Crew or Cyp. Crew even said at one time that if anything happened he would keep skyblock up for a year with his own money, so Im pretty sure money isnt an issue. Cyp can't be 'soooo busy' considering I'm pretty sure servers are his main source of income. As it says in my status, you would thing someone who makes their income off servers would actually give 1 single s*** about it. You cant excuse pure laziness. If Crew (who already checked out a very long time ago so I dont even care about mentioning him) and Cyp dont care to maintain the server, the least they could do is grow a pair of balls and HIRE (because money is the best inscentive for someone NOT to betray you) some admins considering their server is already going way downhill so they dont have much to lose. It isnt like net is Crews golden gem like the old days, he's focused on mineplex and minetime so he can afford to put some trust into people on net. Also, cyp was made owner on here because Crew didnt give a f*** about running the show, but now cyp doesnt care and thats the major problem. At the end of the day, we are third (I think) on Crews priorities. The end is inevitable at this rate.
I think there are two main reasons. I think 60% of skyblock players finished their island/restarted 100 times and dont want to anymore. Another reason are the players bc the server got really dumb and the "gangs" got worse so yeah. There are just people who never get punished.
Oh another reason: Mods. They ban without valid proof. They do stuff like major grief --> 2 day ban. Swearing (saying "damn") --> perm ban no appeal you dont deserve to live.
Skyblock has been dying a lot, I agree. I remember when Skyblock was at max playerbase and I couldn't join. Recently there has been Skyblock drama, in which I was involved too. All of the players are hating. Players are hating Mods, Players are hating Admins, Mods are hating players for accusing them, Players are hating other players, Donors are hating Non-Donors, Non-Donors are hating Donors, Players are hating Skyblock, Players are hating Forums. As you can see there is a little too much hate going on. There is nothing to do with Minecraft or anything like that.
1. The game itself is naturally dying in popularity 2. Cyp Needs to upgrade the Server but the new EULA is troublesome for the Server income. Yet either way is bad as we can see. 3. Player who have achieved a big Island are getting bored, they lack new challenges like PVP and stuff and maybe the opportunity to start a second Island without loosing the first one, maybe several months after Registration. 4. answer D
The server is a pay-to-win server. People are going to deny it, but it is. I didn't get the rank to help out the server, I got it for the items. The amount of diamonds I get compared to a non-donor is nuts. Just about every staff member is corrupted/abusive or inactive. No moderator or even admin has the commitment to the server that there once was. It's not that hard to see that Noobcrew has gone off to some place else and left Cypriotmerkz in charge. People will say they're busy and make excuses but in reality they're doing their own thing. They've drifted away from minecraft. Just as much as I have. You grow out of it, but if I were in one of the owners positions, getting money, despite how much it is, I'd still do what ever I had to do. I'm not bashing Cyp or Crew, don't get me wrong, but soon net will be just another old server Crew had that died. (SB-Islands). I've been here long enough to see that.
Actually I wouldn't say at all that all players hate. I'm a donor and I respect all non donors and donors the same. And so do many other people. And it's not like everyone is going to get along fine anyways. Think about real life...
Nope, that would make more people quit as they would have to restart. I'd say only restart the server if something terrible happened to the economy like org had.
