When people join, they ask questions like "can I have dirt" etc. They do not read the rules of the servers, and they ask stuff like "how do I get grass" I think when they join their first island there is a Rule Book where it tells all the rules and information. (Ex. Bucket trade is illegal, do /vote to get grass/ how to make a chest shop). The players will be more likely to read the book than doing /rules.
Neutral, I don't think people would read it and think our rules are like other skyblock servers then they would just toss it in the void. I think a lot of people wouldn't read it also some would so I think it could still be added
Support. When I first join skyblock I don’t know any command So I think it would be better if we have book
I think this would be a great addition for new players. There’s is already a “skyblock guide” made by Cyk753 and this gives players a good insight into starting the game and rules. This could a be very easy thing to implement into the game as it is it just an item given to a player when they create an island. Maybe we could have the /links take you straight to the post regarding the commands: Help - Skyblock Commands | Skyblock Forums Also isn’t this more of a server /gameplay suggestion? This might need to be moved. Support.
Support I see how this can be helpful in many situations and if they appeal a mute or a punishment they don’t have an excuse saying they didn’t know the rules because they had a rule book
Moved this thread to the right section for you In principle, this is a good idea. However, there are some complications. For example, if something changes (like a rule or how to do something) then a whole new book would need to be created to replace the old ones. But the old ones would still be circulation and could cause confusion amongst players about which version is correct. It could also cause a problem where players would try and sell these old versions of the book as 'rares' or something.
I think Cyk753 used to give away books when the new server opened Noobcrew could just implement those to the config since they were very well written
On classic, such a thing once existed. Both the books in the attached photos contain rules and general info such as who staff are. Now they're kinda just a collectors item though...
Neutral, this is a good idea but it already exists. Cyk753 gives them away, and they were very well written!
I think a rule book would be a really nice feature to have and I always like reading things. Sometimes it is easier to say things in a book then to plaster multiple signs all over the place. Signs are not the most resource efficient devices.
Support. Opening a book in your inventory is much easier than going to /wrap info or trying to find the endless rule book on the forums. It can include just the essentials like illegal trading, how to get grass and important commands - and then link the full forum rule book. It’s up to the player whether they want to read it or not, but being a new player myself I wish I had this!
Agreed it would be so much easier to understand how the game works and all the commands (as i didn't understand at first) for early players
