I know a few staff members that do this, but it'd be nice to have every staff member doing it. It's nice to know your report had been handled or resolved.

It really bothers me when I report a post and I can't tell whether it was a valid report or not or even if the report went through. It's just confusing

I feel players deserve to know when they've contributed or when their report was rejected. It helps everybody out and it's just five seconds to check a box and optionally write a note to the member.

Proves my point that they can't handle criticism lol

A pointless suggestion? Have you looked through the replies on this thread to find that most members here agree, and even some staff too.
You don't need to bring your conflict with Pile into your opinion on her thread.

Mods = monarchs reigning terror on everyone.

    jks, it's a joke

If you rather, we could just not handle reports leaving them open to avoid this confusion.
    also a joke

But seriously, as much as I agree with the fact that people are entitled to know when their report is handled, a position on the staff team is volunteering of sorts. Many of use are not professionals (e.g. I'm pretty new). We don't always have the time for things and i feel like little reports on forums are usually rushed (I'm always on forums on my phone and when I deal with reports, I try to have the decency of clicking that button but moderating forums with an Iphone is already painful enough).
Although we try our best, sometimes it isn't up to par with what the community expects and suddenly, 8 staff reports are being written about how we abuse our powers (not saying that power hasn't been abused, it certainly has been in the past and it always will be since it's just an inherent human trait).
Speaking about human traits, mods are humans. Of all people, you should understand that pile. They make mistakes.

I don't think I ever said not checking that box was abuse? It's most definitely not abuse to not check the box. I only made this thread to show how to send a notification and what exactly happens when you just check that box.

I most definitely never meant more than that although I am being demonized for even mentioning it.
I apologize to any staff that feel offended by this thread it was most definitely not my intention.

This isn't about mistakes...it's about players who help mods keep the forums safe/free from rule-breaking comments wanting to know if their reports have been seen or dealt with.
Yes, you all volunteer your time...look at MindSensation rating everything old but not having enough time to click that Resolved button...ya'll should use that time more wisely and not be rude to players who are just trying to help all of you out.

It's totally fine. I personally think it would have been more appropriate to bring up the topic with a super mod or forums admin yet I, for one, think that there is no bad criticism and I'll be sure to take the extra 2 seconds to click on that button.
The only reason I brought up mod abuse is because I thought it fit in nicely with the nature of my post. It actually has very little to do with your original post (It's kinda off-topic).
I don't really see how this could be seen as rude, it's more just inconsiderate.
We appreciate the reports we get and we put in a lot of time trying to keep this community safe and and a minimum level of toxicity.
Additionally, I personally signed up to moderate in game but with that comes the duty of moderating on the forums which tends to be painful considering we lack some tools that we have in game.

This is exactly the field to be edited. I sent Cyp this same screenshot.
Hopefully it will be set up.

What do you mean? This thread is about trying to get Moderators to just notify users when their report is handled.

Moving to a more appropriate section after discussion with Pile. Please do not undo.

It's here while Pile has her report open, then it'll be moved to Moderators How To until Cyp implements the change to make the checkbox by default, then it'll be archived.

Cyp has edited the fields to check the box by default now.
I have no issue with this thread archived.

Thanks to those who voiced their opinions on the matter. You helped in the decision to default the checkmark and as a result will always be notified when your forum reports are handled.

Once again I apologize to anyone that was upset by the making of this thread. It honestly wasn't my intention to upset anyone.

I'd rate this post friendly, but I can't.

Are we archiving or moving to the staff section?
