Don't mean to be negative, but it's not needed ant it's unfair. I always get disappointed when I see servers that require you to be a certain age to apply, because I know that there are many people out there that are well qualified for the position, but will have their application denied because they aren't old enough. Plus, there are many moderators out there that are under 13 that can do their job very well. It's been this way for over 2 years now, I don't see a need to change it.

 

This is like saying only people with donor can apply. How would you feel if you had to pay money just to apply for mod? If there was an age limit it'd be unfair to those who are mature and worthy of the position but are under the age limit. I've met 10 year olds who are more mature then my 16 year old brothers friends. I'm not trying to hate on the idea but it's unfair to the younger people who apply.

Anyways, I'm just gonna put myself out here, and I'm probably going to get a lot of criticism for this, but this is my opinion. I actually agree with this.

Yes, I know we have mods younger than 13 here, and I know most if not all of them are at least half decent mods. But you do have to consider the fact that we're all on the internet here, and on the internet, kids aren't the most popular characters. While your mods may be good, having a 10 year old in a position of staff doesn't look very good from the outside.

I'd also like to raise the point that I was the one who made a thread ranting about ageism and how people assume younger people are less capable than older ones. I still stand by my opinion that yes, young people are very capable individuals and can potentially be more mature than some adults. Now, here's something that none of you can deny. With age comes experience, and with experience comes a more level head and more ability to handle stressful situations. These people are moderation a server with 300 people on it at a time, possibly more if that cap has been increased since I've been banned. With age also comes more critical thinking abilities which is obviously a good skill to have in a position of staff.

To sum this up, no I don't think that all people under 13 or whatever age are unfit for a staff position. I do think they're more unpredictable and likely to crack under pressure, though. Caution is advised.
