I think that would definitely have its pros and cons. Since people don't really know how to msg, swearing isn't an option for them, so this would be a good way to let them do as they wish. However, it has its cons as well, as anybody visiting the island can be tricked and see swearing from the island owner/member. Because swearing is allowed, we wouldn't be able to punish for it, making people possibly leave the server even for such little things.

We would obviously need to moderate it due to the ongoing issue of DoS threats and other illegal activities. It would work probably the same way social spy does.

 

Hmm. How about instead of local, islands get their own chat that the owner would need to invite people too? Then people can swear and have fun with their friends or co-ops without risking being in trouble. XD it'd also give tmods more to do.

 

But then the issue is finding out how to invite people. People won't even read the broadcast, but they'll read it if it stands out

Unfortunately I would have to disagree with this. One of the reasons I want this is when I am running a skin comp or drop party I can say "Skin Comp Starting" or "Drop Party Over" without having to shout in chat 'DP OVER EVERYONE LEAVE' and then get my chat spammed with people saying they got nothing. If I have to invite people then they just won't see it and won't get messages. Overall, though, this suggestion is good. This won't be a pain to do because the plugin is already here (in .org).

If people are using it in replacement to private messages then It seems, in a way, a little like social spy. If that's a moderator+ permission, then surely the ability to see this should be too?

I'm a little confused as to how we would contact the people who are using the global chat feature other than in PM... Which if this was brought in to help people who didn't understand how to use PM slightly defeats the object. I guess you could TP to the player first, but if it's a simple question that would waste time.

 

On org we could see local.

Support if I haven't already . This is a thing that the server needs. I have seen a lot of players in a coop talking in global chat and are quite confusing sometimes. /Chat is needed.
