Implemented Hopper minecart limitation increase

    Could we try to test increasing the current hopper minecart limit? They've become very reliable in farms to help collect larger farm drops faster with less living lost to clear lag removal, currently the limit is only 3 per chunk.

    Could we test four or more?


    As an example farm, I have a redstone mushroom farm which the design is spread out over four chunks, but because I already have two minecart hoppers in a different farm way above but in one of those four chunks, it keeps despawning the carts that I need for my farm. When the limit was introduced, many people had hundreds of minecarts deleted, causing a huge loss on iron resources that were hard to grind for.

    Now we're very limited to what farm designs will work due to despawning carts.

    It's worth a try, if an increased limit doesn't work as efficiently, by all means go back to how it is now. Its a great idea to limit them. But feels to have been put on too much of a limit

    This restriction is not required for regular players.
    Players that use them for collection rather than storage. Every hopper cart needs a hopper to remove the goods from it so we’re not increasing our hopper count.

    Many people lost hopper carts and many shops failed to function after this change.

    I believe this restriction was put in place due to some players piling many hopper carts in a single space.
    Rather than penalise all players, penalise those that abuse this or restrict hopper carts to one per block.

    My old afk farm on my isle worked by storing minecart chests with hopper minecarts stacked into a single block, creating a ton of storage. The players could then simply stand on a plate to activate the dispensers and auto sell the profits each minute. So I get why the limitations brought in, however three are very limiting when a decent farm may use 2-4 for best efficiency

    That is exactly the sort of thing they were targeting but it doesn't justify the change.
    Too often, they put in place a server wide restrictions to counter the actions of just a few players.
    Perhaps it's easier than actually speaking to those players and penalising where necessary.

    I like working around the server limitations because it requires creativity and originality, as opposed to just copy-pasting the first result on youtube.

    Though when having multiple different farms at different Y levels I can see how designing around this can be a pain.

    Maybe make the limit 3 hopper minecarts per subchunk (a chunk but seperated into 16 block tall sections), so that farms on different Y levels but in the same chunk can still operate without allowing significant interactions between the hopper minecarts.

    That’s all good and well, but if the server limitations change because of the negative actions of a few players, and they change in such a way that they render the existing setups of other players useless then it’s really not right. These changes really shouldn’t happen without proper consideration of the consequences.

    My farm wasn't a laggy one, I simply used bulk minecarts for storage instead of needing loads of hoppers then chests.

    An example of how the could be increased is from 3 in a chunk up to 5, maybe 6. *to make them even within the chunks. If this starts to have a negative impact on the server then for sure let them go back to how they are now. But that's how trial and error works when finding a good solution.

    Recently I've been designing a sculk/mob farm that would rely on rails and minecarthoppers to collect the drops. Its had to be designing over 3 or more chunks, to allow for just 4 running minecarthoppers. If I could utilise having this doubled, it would increase collection yields from my farm, resulting in less drops lost due to one cart not reaching the full farm in time. I've managed to work the rail patterns to cover most of the farm, but this restriction has become very limiting on what we can build and how our farms work best

    I think moving entities that are constantly looking for item to pick up is worse than dropped items. Idk though, not educated on this.

    Hoping to get some feedback on this Dexuby
    I'm trying to add some more profit shops on Economy to aid new players and they require hopper minecarts to get the dropped items into the shop chests.

    I know hoppers can pull items through soulsand but as the collection rate of hoppers is drastically reduced most items pass straight over before they can be collected.
    For now, I will just have the items, circulate over the hoppers so that after a few passes, all will be collected, but that will mean more entities.

    Can we please have this restriction increased so that we can have more than 3 sets of shops per chunk.

    Hoppers and hopper minecarts specifically require much more resources than item entities. I've slightly increased the limit now (3 -> 4) which should take effect after the next restart.

    After looking at it we have decided that we will be adding this feature! We felt like this would improve the game-play by adding it, so your suggestion has been accepted!
