My personal experience is to stay away from Norton, Mcafee, Kaspersky, Avira and definitely not Windows Defender (or Windows Security Essentials) :yuck: (I just dont like their software in general). When fixing up computers for friends, family, etc. I spring for: AVG, Avast, BitDefender, Zonealarm (Eh used it for about 2-3 years but has lots of popups that will tab you out of games). Those are just for Antivirus besides AVG which has a small Malware scanner on it (Which does do a pretty good job). Now I use Anti-virus and Anti-malware (Who says too much is a bad thing). I'm in love with Malwarebytes. I would recommend you get it. And if you are having this same issue everytime you "reset" your computer I would get the Malwarebytes Anti-Root Kit Tool and make sure you dont have any virus's hanging on after you reset your computer. Have any questions let me know! :D

Edit: PS: If you get only Malwarebytes you are still at risk for getting virus's that could corrupt your system as it is only for Malware.

F-Secure is an amazing, no-lag product. I have it and it never lags, always gives you the option of what to do with viruses and malicious software, and is just overall and amazing anti-virus. I'd recommend it:p

Norton always bugged me. I used to use AVG on my old laptop because it was free and just simple.
This Windows Defender on Windows 10 seems to work pretty well for me so far. If I had to get an antivirus program, I'd probably get Avast.
