    I also have a smooth stone generator. It does mine fast than cobble, if you are mining it FOR cobble.
    I use it with a silk touch pick to get the smooth stone. My pick is also efficiency and unbreaking and all that jazz so it mines things super fast anyway. :)

    My smooth stone gen is a lot slower than my cobble gen though, I think I only get like a half stack per minute.

    I don't mean the items falling into the lava, I mean the block being created by the lava meeting the water.
