Even with the current 5 minute cooldown, these messages are still played on repeat hundreds of times per day. We already have /ads; we don't need this advert spam in chat.

It doesn't show in this screenshot but can confirm Exo's ad is on a correct 5 minute timer. Which doesn't make it any less annoying.

100% support, even increasing the cooldown to 15 minutes would be an improvement!

 

The new .shops find feature removes the need for most adverts.
AFK shops are a different but shouldn't need advertising often.
I advertise mine manually, so only when I'm on and only when it's available.

Also an official statement about ads that spread over multiple lines would be nice. It didn't seem clear if it was allowed or not when I brought it up to staff, but that's really spammy.

Support, a much much better way to get around the annoyingness of chat ads whilst also allowing players to advertise would be forcing every player on the server to open the /ads GUI every 5 minutes.

 

This isn't the premise here. Specifically automatic chat advertisements should be abolished. A bot doesn't care if you can see the ad 5 times in the last page of chat, so long as it was 5 minutes ago it will send another one. People can see how much spam their message will make when sending them manually, and can even make the message more engaging on the fly.

For example:

Greenbean: how can I make money guys??
Exo: I'll pay you if you afk at /visit goopieraxx, nobody is there right now so come quick!!

the gameplay should not be so dry that you need to advertise your thing every 5 minutes, i think it being longer would be an improvement imo

 

Advertising AFK shops should never be automated as the majority of the time, you’ll be advertising something that isn’t available. Unless you’re not paying enough.
