It would be nice if some "special" characters were allowed that aren't very special such as Swedish: å ö ä
it would make things easier when communicating or saying some words/names in your own language.

Extra characters should be allowed but not all special characters.
At minimum add accent characters because it's easy to extend the filter to apply to words using them.

No Support. According to skyblock terms and services found at https://skyblock.net/help/terms , Under "Disruption of communications" section 9.2 "Non-English communication", it states Skyblock is an English language service and content viewable by many users, such as in game chat, will be conducted in the English language! Sorry guys!

 

That's a tricky one because if you allow chat that only few can read, you actually exclude more people.

 

But then likewise skyblock caters to many different languages and countries with players joining. A key question in saff applications, is weather you can speak a different language or use Google translate, because of the chances a player joins who doesn't speak English.

Excluding a player simply because English isn't their first language seems to be a bad move. Often ive seen people talk in Spanish or or languages, it's not hard to simply Google translate what's being said. Allowing foreign speaking players to use their language's accents would help them feel more inclusive and supported in game. If you don't want to learn someone's language or to use Google translate to know what they're saying, simply don't speak to them.

I support adding accents, àòèìù etc, however I do think that adding "noodle language" could then lead to chat spam. It's easy to read through accents compared to a language using non european alphabetical letters.

for reference so you don't add the wrong ones

or even better you could just add all the hieroglyph symbols and i can use those
