I would hope the autosell thing is toggleable somehow, because there's loads of people who worked on large farms that are largely for public benefit, and they would now be essentially worthless. For example, TigerLord recently spent nearly 140 million on two farms that he was renting out to people. MangoChilli, myself, memezalt, Brittney132, and quite a few others have free pumpkin / melon dropper things to assist newer players.
Wont be able to play the Beta but I can't wait for the changes New blocks to build with, maps can be locked and are safe from griefers *-* And as long as I'm allowed to keep my mapart, I'm happy
The dynamic pricing might de-insentivise all profit shops anyway because if the price drops based on how many pumpkins sell, those with large pumpkin farms might now want to reduce how many are sold. You can't have free pumpkin/melon drops any more without it affecting your income! That being said, Given how many pumpkin/melon farms, there are in place already, the price will probably be driven to the minimum now anyway. If there had been regular information provided on the progress of the update, they may not have quit!
We had profit shops in mind when we thought about those changes. As you mentioned they were/are a really effective way to make money but our gameplay (especially for new players) shouldn't be based around teleporting and right clicking signs. The person that placed the crop hopper is the owner. Yes, crop hopper farms should still be everyone's end-game goal though, balancing changes will be introduced if necessary.
So, 6 * tier This tax will hit people heavily while they are starting out. They will likely pay more tax than they earn until they get a couple levels in place. EDIT: The tax isn't too much really. Players will minimise this by building up to full height, one chunk at a time. Excellent, cheers, Dex.
Correct, the amount of taxes you have to pay might get changed if necessary, we expect players to be at a "mid-tier level" when they start to buy and utilize crop hoppers. It's currently planned that all the live server data will get migrated so you won't have to start fresh.
As mentioned both servers are very similar at its core and the survival server won't get changed that much so it's unlikely however not impossible. I'd say most likely yes depending on the ban reason. Making the auto sell thing toggleable would destroy its purpose so it will most likely not be possible. The crop hopper won't work anymore until you can pay for it again.
Fair enough. I'm obviously very interested to see how things play out, but this and the comments about profit shops make me a little concerned. The economy already heavily favors long-term players, right? Like...by nature of the fact that we can automate the selling of stuff, the less involved one is able to be while still making money, the better. Profit shops are generally used the most by newer players who would otherwise struggle to reach a meaningful level of income, and I hope they're either still a way of making decent money OR that the other solutions offered can fill in the blank there. With that said, these are big and exciting changes, so thank you so much!
I was chatting in another thread and had a thought that I was hoping you might be able to clear up: Currently if croppers are picking up multiple crops, they can begin to backup; whatever is in the first slot gets priority for output, while the 2nd-5th slots slowly fill up. With the autosell stuff coming...do you know if this will still be a problem? Or will stuff be sold essentially upon entering the cropper?
That's definitely one of our goals, as mentioned while profit shops were a really good source of income (possibly too good) using them was really boring and repetitive since you didn't actually do anything, you just teleported around and right clicked signs. No, the items will never enter the crop hopper's inventory.
