Try using a client or the latest version, maybe even a snapshot? they can be different so you could have some luck then

I tried using badlion client, it worked but when I hopped into a single player world I was on 2fps on the lowest settings possible :/

try 1.16.3

Its still quite laggy but def an improvement, sitting at 10fps on a normal client on a 2 chunk render which is impressive

Did some changes to a few settings and managed to get it to 15fps on a 8 chunk render however I get massive lag spikes

try setting up a server to offload the worldgen etc to it
(aternos is a good option just sayin)
