Australia is a country, as well as its own continent. It's a constitutional monarchy, meaning we have Liz II as our queen, but we federated from Britain in 1901, so we're no longer a crown colony or part of Britain. This said we're part of the Commonwealth, which is essentially a group of former and current British colonies.
Hmmm. We celebrate ANZAC day once a year in April, where we commemorate soldiers in the ANZAC--Australia and New Zealand Army Corps--usually by having current and former soldiers and descendants marching in parades. We have Australia Day, where typically families will have BBQs, and wear Aussie flags and such.
Some people call it Invasion Day, as it's the day the First Fleet arrived on the shores of Australia, marking the loss of Indigenous Australian culture. Silly things: a shout is paying for a round of drinks (i.e "It's your shout" ), the typical way of fundraising is by holding a "sausage sizzle", where you sell sausages outside of a Bunnings (usually), and you *always* ask for chicken salt on your chips.
Sky, I said "some people call it Invasion day", which is a fact, whether or not you agree with their reasoning. I also never claimed it was my view.
I don't allow politics on my profile
