I don't understand why some companies refuse to hire older people. When they retire, we always have to replace them by at least two new young people. In your case, it's even... seven!!!?
Some people are nearly irreplaceable. If I were Lego I'd be throwing seven or more trainees at Mr. Sage in the hopes even ONE of them can do half as well.
Frederic Lego has no mandatory retirement. The employee chooses when to retire. We have several people that are older than 80 and even one guy in China that's over 90. I currently hold 4 different positions. Two are being eliminated when I retire.
The designers I'm training are being trained in each of my current theme lines and three liaisons are being trained for specific clients. You have to think about it this way; I'll be 70 this year. When I retire I'll have worked at Lego for 20 of that. Besides, after my wife passed away last year my desire to do much of anything is gone. I'd rather end my career "on a high note".
