Well, not everyone, but maybe 45% of the community. Probably because becoming a moderator really makes you believe in yourself more and have more self-confidence. It also makes you responsible. And some people also want to prove themselves and show others that they can make a difference or help in the community.
I know it isn't everyone, and I figured it was something like responsibility or popularity, but it feels like it's everyone. And I think it's a little silly is all. cx
