Muting is a punishment only reserved for those who break the rules Skyblock has laid out to an extent where they pose a threat to further continue to break said rules. I believe that I have not broken the rules to this extent and would like to give evidence why; Firstly, I was warned for the reason displayed as follows. It was not my intent to state rules when no rules have been broken, as I fully believe that whenever I have stated a rules, someone has breached them, and I can also prove my argument on this based on the scenario of which rule I stated if you wish, for I did not do it once. Nevertheless, if stating rules is against the rules, how are you to learn them in the first place? Here I will provide an example: The user said they wanted to jump off a bridge, to imply committing suicide. As a rule-following skyblock member I kindly informed them on the thread about sensitive topics on Skyblock informing them to not speak of them. Oakk then comes in and actually corrects me, saying that if you are joking about the sensitive topic then it is fine. Here's another mod's opinion that agrees with mine, but this is just for reference and is not evidence of the rules. I further inquired about this warning which I believe Oakk would include into the reasoning about the trolling offense, however I have also not heard of this rule where clarifying rules so that they are not broken is considered trolling, and I even made sure I wasn't intending disrespect as shown here. Secondly, I was warned for the reason displayed as follows. However, I later recieved information from a staff member that should class this warning as invalid, meaning it should not be included in the trolling offense; Thirdly, I believe since I was speaking with proper grammar and punctuation, that Oakk thought I was being sarcastic or disrespectful, which if you take any of my messages at face value, which you should as an unbiased moderator, then I believe I should be unmuted. First of all, thanks for appealing your mute. I will start by explaining the mute itself and why it was issued in the first place. The mute was issued under the following rule: Trolling Trolling is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to: Arguing Angering and provoking other users Purposely annoying other users Inciting hate towards users/groups on the server Starting a flame war To understand the mute better, you have in the past week(s) been posting rules in the discord to correct other users. I view this as both trolling and provoking others. But as it's not directly stated in the rules. I've verbally warned you before, and then I executed a warning. However, that did not make you stop, as you continued with this which clearly provoked other users in the server. It's great that you ask about the rules, and that you want to get a better understanding of them. However, I believe this particular screenshot is taken out of context. The situation was nothing inappropriate or sensitive whatsoever. Furthermore, I believe Cupcake is talking more general, rather than the situation that occurred itself.
Yeah Oak, as I already said in the appeal, you warned me to not explain rules to other users if they aren’t breaking any rules. 1st instance, the user said they want to jump off a bridge, this breaks the Sensitive topics rule on Skyblock, thus breaking the rules, and furthermore not violating your warning you gave me. The screenshot from cuppy also proves that her opinion is people shouldn’t be talking about jumping off bridges. 2nd instance, woahitsaustin sent me a gif asking me to be their kitten and meow for them randomly, so I asked them if the post made sense, to which they replied with a gif saying no, showing it doesn’t make sense. And so, as a result, as you can see in the screenshot, I informed them that they broke the rule about not posting nonsense posts. (They decided that the post was nonsense, not me!). This again proves I did not violate your warning as I only informed a user on the rules once they were broken. Let me know if you have any more questions, or evidence you would like to discuss.
As I already mentioned, it was an obvious joke, and it caused no harm. Therefore it's not violating the rules of our Discord. Cupcake had a more general approach, I have even clarified with her afterward. This is also just taken out of context, the gif did not actually have any deep meaning, which I agree with. Although, this is not considered nonsense in terms of rules. Something that would fall under that rule would be random chatting to gain XP, for instance. Not posting a random GIF. Hope that clears both of these instances up.
Yes, it does. I hope you can see how I would be concerned that these users may have been breaking the rules and thus been justified in my decision to inform them about it.
It does not violate the rules. The users who violated the rules were warned as well (the joke did not though). How can I assist you further with this appeal, as the points you've brought up are not any evidence that will get you unmuted in advance
What? You asked if it clears up the situation, and I said Yes it does, and asked if you could understand my concern. I not once disagreed with you. My reasoning that my belief that rules were being broken is not enough? I just acknowledged that you have just told me my belief was incorrect, you may have just misread the response
