I believe in today's world the word immature is actually being immature. Everyone that no supports an application basically drops this word as their reason, and I'm always confused why it gets used. Even I used it way too often.

So what does immature mean? not fully developed or having or showing emotional or intellectual development appropriate to someone younger.

So what does that mean? Honestly most of us are not fully developed as we are kids. Even if some of us are more developed than others, this can't really be used. Even adults are not fully developed in my opinion as you see them making daily mistakes and other problems they may have. Gambling, drinking, drugs. You mostly would see ADULTS doing these things, and if kids were to do it they'd probably just be trying to act like adults do. Monkey see, monkey do.

Is swearing immature? I've seen people say this many times that you're immature just because you say these forbidden words. But who invented these words and can use them daily? Adults. Even as a friend of mine has said "It's called mature language for a reason".

Now, what is childish behavior? What are some examples of this? The strongest point I can make on childish behavior is the choice a child may make versus what an adult may make. For example, perhaps a mature person that had just failed a test would look upon some way he/she could improve. Instead, an immature person may blame it on the teacher.

So what is it that people do on this server that may be immature? Spamming? Depends on the occasion but adverting their shop wouldn't really be immature. Have you looked at the basically spamming of brands everywhere in this world? Perhaps if the person is spamming random words on purpose to trigger the mods, that would be immature. Scamming? Not sure because adults do it daily. The Mechanic needs $500 for something? Probably overcharging. So much scamming goes on in the real world that I'm not sure if we can even call it immature.

So what do you think of activity found on this server could make someone immature?

It's called being lazy and not wanting to be harassed by the applicant why they no supported. lol

I guess I agree with this, if your playing minecraft odds are your immature in some way (either a 20 year old playing - smhhh - or a child)

I agree big time. I guess I feel personally myself that people that judge me down for acting immature at times are a bit overdoing it. People have asked why I act childish sometimes, and I finally have the answer. Simply put, Most of the people on this server are younger than me. Typically 12-15. Believe it or not, I am pretty mature IRL. But in game I noted that I, along with others my age, and some staff, and some players will act childish. I mean it's a game server. But as I was saying, I act a bit childish at times to get down on these younger people's level. I don't like the idea of talking down others, or alienating people because I have a higher level of maturity than them. I want to befriend them, and to do that, a lot of times you act childish. I mean have you seen how googie adults act around babies? or how they will act differently toward children? That's the same reason that I do. You have a good point Cheesy.

Males do not become mature until mid 40s whereas women tend to mature at an earlier age. It's a factor of life :).

and truthfully, according to science, the brain doesn't fully mature until the age of 25.

So I guess I have a question relating to this topic. When a person is applying for mod, how heavy do you think a person should be when judging the applicant on their maturity?

This is because hanging around children for too long will "rub off" on you. For a better example, take this one, when you travel to another country, for say Australian moves to NZ for a month. The Australian will begin to speak with a kiwi accent.

I personally call/think a lot of people who are mods, or are applying for mod, are immature. There are many implications of what maturity might mean, not relying strictly upon the dictionary definition. An example of on implication is maturity upon ethics, which have deep rooted philosophy behind them, and unless you're a fourteen year old who has taken ethics courses I would say its fair to call a child immature. Even in your definition of the term immaturity you use "development," well now you have to define what makes someone developed. A 60 year-old barbarian in a tribe off the coast of Africa probably isn't childish, but I wouldn't call him mature either (aside from biologically mature). Another thing part that deals with age is the fact that younger people tend to have worse decision making skills (you argue adults do drugs/gamble/drink, things which are only legal for adults to do(in america at least)), you can argue that you're an outlier, but statistically speaking that is improbable. In fact science proves that the younger you are the less developed the decision making part of your brain is. So having taken for granted that a young person might make a worse decision than an older person, is it not fair to say that they are immature? There are more and more things that correlate young people with what I would brand to be immaturity, i.e. how they handle stress, peer pressure, etc. I invite you to argue against this without the use of fallacy and to make a strong, valid, and sound argument against what I've said. Before you go typing, though, I would challenge whether you even know what makes and argument valid and sound, or if you even know what a fallacy is. This might seem like I'm being a jerk because I know more about this than you and I'm just pushing my knowledge around, but this information is paramount to understanding logic, and when you make a post about why immature is over-used and support it using your own "logic" you invite me to challenge you on logic.

Sorry if its long or if I was rambling, but the use of immature is perfectly fair imho.

His use of improper logic is, by definition, immature.

Well we are all playing an online video game so wouldn't that make us all immature?
    Thanks :)
    oh noes(!!!)
Majority of us are children aka below 18. So shouldn't we have the right to think butts are funny?
Thanks Eddie. Another thing to add is I find it so confusing in what message adults are trying to tell you. One second it's grow up and the next I'm told to remain a child as long as possible. I just don't get it. Fair points what you are saying.
Exactly. So we're all immature in one way or another.
    ok?
