What happens when a tsunami occurs?

A tsunami is a seismic sea wave and the word originated from the Japanese Language. Usually tsunamis are misunderstood to be "Tidal Waves" which is an incorrect term. Tsunamis can be caused by a couple of means:

1. An earthquake may occur under the water creating a tsunami.
2. Undersea landslides can also summon a tsunami.
3. An underwater volcanic eruption potentially can cause a tsunami.
4. A large meteor impacting the water will also cause tsunamis.

Tip: Tsunamis are like huge waves that come upon land crushing anything in its path.

Most tsunamis occur when there is an underwater earthquake. When the earthquake under the water occurs, the water surges upwards causing a tsunami. 85% of tsunamis have been recorded in the Pacific Ocean in the "Ring Of Fire". When tsunamis occur, they broadcast a message to all local people. Due to education on tsunamis, most survive them. Oceania has 25.4% of all tsunamis recorded.
