What happens when birds eat rice?

There has been a myth going around that if a bird eats rice, it will explode. Have you ever heard of the expression, "Don't throw rice at a wedding"? That term came from a 1996 Ann Landers column* that also mentioned that if a bird eats rice, it will explode. Unfortunately, there will be no exploding of bird feathers and poop today. Honestly, this mind "blowing" (hehehe, not funnny...? Okay. :( ) myth will always be a myth. Birds eat cooked or uncooked rice and survive happily ever after just like in the fairy tales your mommy reads to you at night. But I do have one important last fact. It is probably for the best not to throw rice at a wedding because people do not want to waste their time picking it back up. Instead, most people use white millet* at weddings. It is environmentally better and birds enjoy the soft fluffiness. Also, you're not getting pelted by hard rice on your wedding day. Instead, soft rice falls upon your head earning a splendid heaven on earth look.
