(I think Lemonade made a thread like this a while ago, but I wanted to bring up this topic up again)

As of a few months now, we have the support, no support, and neutral ratings available on suggestions & applications.

Even more recent, there has been an addition of a required letter count in order to reply.

With both of these, isn't it pretty implied that posts such as "support" are unneeded? You have the ability to simply show your support by clicking the support button.

By all means, if you would like to actually put in useful feedback to the suggestion/application; I of course see no issue with that.

The ratings are actually extremely more useful than a useless reply. They give an accurate representation of the thread is being taken. Also, users put actually very useful feedback sometimes. I'd like to see how users feel about the thread, while not having to scroll through all the "supports" when they can already be visible through the ratings.

Anyways, this is just something that crossed my mind. I'd love to hear other opinions.

I never really supported the "no support, support" ratings because I wanted people to express their opinions properly: giving a reason for their choice.

Some people don't want to use the ratings and that is fine.

technically we could remove all one word supports but I find that a little much. It isn't an issue we cannot easily solve.

I just don't like the neutral posts in general. Exceptions being where there is nothing given (they don't say support/no support/thus neutral), this normally being in cases where the person is just discussing things on the suggestion/application.
I don't like people saying they don't care or are neutral because what is the point, might as well close the tab to save useless posts from cluttering the thread. My 2 pence.

I like the ratings for those who have no extra feedback.
If someone has reasoning and explains why they 'supported', yes go ahead and post.

I am not asking for those one word posts to be deleted. People go around commenting "neutral", "support", and "no support" all the time, always have, and it's something that will never change most likely.

I just wanted to know if anyone else viewed this the way I do.

I personally prefer having the ability to comment on suggestion/application. I don't really like the "Neutral" rating. It's like you have no opinion, you can't choose between support or no support.
I like to comment on applications/suggestion, because I think people should say why they support or or why they don't.

Well, not going to lie, I do that sometimes and I'm pretty sure a lot of others do to, I guess it's just a matter of not being bothered to write anything other than support. It's such a small thing however, so there's not much we can do :/

I can see why sometime people just want to express an opinion without having to justify themselves. That is where the rating comes is. It is basically a poll, you vote for the suggestion. But everyone should use it, not only the mute ones. And especially those who are by now only answeringe with "support" or "no support". Mods should enforce the usage of the ratings, as the one-two-worded posts that just say what the rating could say are simply put POST FARMING. nothing less. And post farming is against the forum rules.

I do not understand why mods are not enforcing that rule and promoting the usage of the ratings instead.
