So this was the first server i have ever played online and is still my favorite to play on so thanks to everyone who makes it great to play with. with that said I'd just like to show off what I've accomplished so far in the past 2 months. i wanted to do a large sub-tropical volcanic island. its been an expensive and time consuming project to say the least but here it is so far. once complete id like to offer it up to the server as a new warp. it will likely have the spawners removed and put in a maze, maybe a parkour, and a small hidden temple. the volcano from ground level is 50ish blocks tall and only 10 away from the build limit. i have considered making it larger to hit that limit yet. there's been well over 25 stacks of grass placed so far across the island and underground farm. being a donor gets me the VERY small amount of sand each day to add to the "beach" around the island. i so wish we could trade sand or buy at warp grass but o well just confirms this is a LONG project now lol. EDIT: grass laying complete, with more of the sand i get each day in my kit the smaller first layer is coming along nicely. it was a lot of grass blocks to get. in the last day of planting lawn i bought 20 stacks of grass selling all the diamonds i had save 2. and it was half covered before that. as you can see from the grass most of my island is in a dessert biome, but that small lush area happens to be an extreme hills biome. that's it for now ill upload shots of the hidden rooms in it later. please tell me what you think so far and any suggestions for "hidden rooms" are welcome. i am also accepting donations of grass or diamonds to buy grass with and I'm buying grass with diamonds too so if you want to sell please msg me privately for details.
this is the storrage/shop below the island kind of unincluded in the island itself but i liked it and wanted to show it as well. This is just a ground shot of the fishing lake, cottage and mountain. A close up of the cottage and upside down mooshroom. And the Enchanting room "hidden" up a maze of vines and old bridge, dug into the side of a volcano.
I like the way you organized your home. As variant you could set up hunting area beneath your island making a cave with a couple of mob spawners.
i do have a mob spawner/exp farm its a very small 4 block drop to a contained block for death set up with 3 spawners stacked on top of each other in the middle. coming down to a single block drop with lava dispenser to kill im if not there. i do like the idea of the cave tho may consider trying to incorporate it somehow maybe a cave spider if i can. hmmmm underground generating room. stone and obsidian gens here. the stone gen is piston fed so that you can mine facing directly up and AFK a quarter inventory full of stone while running to the store. 32 block long crop farming. underground glowstone lit. and the underground sheep farm. one of each color and a rainbow sheep (whos acually purple. turns out you can rename a dyed sheep and he still stay's the color dye'd. All the underground farm, generating room, sheep farm, and skeleton exp farm are accessed through a small spiral stair well in the back of the cottage on the island
Dude youre island is amazing! You may not remember me but awhile ago I bought 100 iron and two dubs of cobble from you if you ever need help with youre island just hit me up on here
nah i remember you namely cause it took me like 6 tries to get your name right i was trying to type too fast lol. thanks for the compliments this is really my first "large build" to come to a "completion" level. and my first attemt at a mountain without world editors.
btw, I suggest you to place two solid blocks over mob spawners to avoid skeleton spawn on it and decrease overall spawn rate. And there's no point to stack spawners of one kind. It's better to distribute them on the surface.
perhaps but i did 3 stacked so it takes less space and i almost always get the max spawn rate for the area they're in and get swept away fast enough to get a great mob rate at the killing platform. I've never had a skeleton spawn on top who stayed there but not a bad idea either way thank you.
"If, at the time of spawning, 6 or more monsters of the block's type are present within a 17 × 9 × 17 area (17 wide and 9 high and 17 long), centered on the spawner block, the spawner "poofs" without creating any monsters and then waits for the next cycle." That's why it's important to wipe out spawned mobs as soon as possible. The cycle lasts from 10 to 40 seconds. But monsters in water are floating not so fast
but again it would need more space then. and the water flows the mobs quickly enough out of the spawn area the way its built that i haven't ever noticed an empty "poof" of the spawner's. but the center channel is also 3 or more blocks below the bottom spawner and if i remember right that's below the spawn area and doesn't count them then. a few times only 1 spawned from one of them but like i said there's always a lot coming through. anyhow let not get off topic discussing the best spawner design. this one is there and i doubt ill change it anytime soon and i like how quickly it works.
Ok so i made a 2x1 hidden piston door in the mountain enchanting room. its open to the left in the first picture. leading down a short stair to this room below. its a 7x6 and 3 tall room don't know what to put in here yet so ideas are welcome.
