The thread contains information on what should be kept in mind, this information could be proven false or invalid and is recommended that mods remove false information, add more information, or change incorrect information. If you do not like reading, just read the Bolded text. Ok, lots of bad things happen on Skyblock. People get scammed, islands get griefed, items get lost to the void, animals are killed to lower lag, etc. This is the thread that tells you some of the things to keep in mind so you do not get set back, especially if you are a Non-Donor/$10 Donor. 1. Never Over Breed Over breeding is a term that is self explanatory, going over the limit of breeding animals. The reason over breeding is an issue is because animals are an entity, or something that moves (in real life, an entity is something that exists.) The more entities added, the more that the render engine needs to process, regarding there movement, noses, and actions (ex: Looking at player, Scanning for wheat, etc.) You can have a lot of fire, it is not an entity, all it is, is changing textures. The results of over breading is no ban, no kicking, but the removing (rather than killing and getting drops) of all animals, with no refund of the spawn eggs. If you have a horse with a saddle and diamond armor, to bad, that 40 diamonds worth the stuff (since that stuff is gone from villagers) is gone forever. (I was a victim of that, I am stuck with gold horse armor.) 2. Coops Are Hard to Predict Outcomes You may have seen someone saying "can i join someones island" or "Can a donor join my island?" or something like that. They are talking about coops, not /tp's or /tpa's. A Coop will delete the non-hosts island and makes their respawn point the host's island. If you join an island, then there is a chance you may leave something expensive behind to an island that was just made. There is also the possibility that having someone joining your island may result in greifing, then having the person who did it leave the island. You must keep these risks in mind before doing a coop. -Addition from MonkeyDqwerty: People sometimes kick new coop members for the sake of stealing their stuff. Coop leaders can get mods to unlock chests of people no longer in the coop, so even if you use lockette your items can still be stolen. 3. The Server is "Liquid" The term "liquid" means that it is prone to change. Now they have done many updates, from more Plugins, to new spawns, to the new /ma j God rank. There is a chance that certain things may become rare/illegal to get (Like now the Chicken Spawn eggs) or rares may become super cheap (Like Lily pads.) They can also make certain abilities (like getting spawners from Silk Touch) unusable or add features (like /kittycannon.) 4. Be Careful with /nicks, colors, and What You Say Ok, some people have been kicked for saying swear or banned for /nick or color abuse. It is a hard situation if you are banned to get unbanned, seeing it is (usually) done intentionally to cause a spike in activity. There is an extremely low chance of getting unbanned, but it is possible. 5. Plan Projects Ahead One of the biggest complaints is a spawner being disabled, or in the wrong place. Well, these problems can be avoided by asking a mod if a project is doable, researching was to make it work (Like spawning squids), and seeing if you can afford it. 6. ALWAYS use Lockettes Lockettes are a server plugin that make it so only you (and mods) can access chests. If you store something in an unlocked chest, all the contents can be stolen. Locks can be expensive, using lots of wood, but they can save you loads of stuff, especially if you have grass, iron, gold, or diamonds. 7. Never Advertise ANYTHING not Related to Skyblock There are a few things legal to advertise on Skyblock, which include: The Skyblock Forums Other Skyblock servers (Like .Org, .Net, Hellblock, and Endblock) Useful threads (Not Mod Applications) Warps New rules/plugins Anything not on the list can get people kicked the first time, banned the next time. 8. Always do "Grief Checks" You may wonder what this is. Grief Checks are checking some of your surrounding islands for griefing. If there are bridges, then you should tell a mod and have them check their logs to see IF they show who placed them, and remove the bridges. You must hire a $50 Donor or above, mods do not do this since they have other parts of the server to worry about. 9. Prepare for Server Restarts The server will do regular restarts to make sure the server is working, and also remove any possible hack programs (Ex: Spam engines.) Make sure you get to stable ground away from mobs when you get a warning (unless you are /god-ing) so you are not falling into the void or getting killed by skeletons just as you reenter. 10. Never Hesitate to Ask a Mod You may hesitate to contact a mod for, like, asking for cake. Well, never hesitate to contact a mod, they may lead you to another mod who can do the thing you want, the mods are friendly if you do not disrespect them, and have a pretty good sense of humor. More may be added later, i'm just stopping now since this is my 3rd hour typing this and I ran out of ideas.
You should edit the coop section (number 2) and add that only join a coop you trust. People sometimes kick new coop members for the sake of stealing their stuff. Coop leaders can get mods to unlock chests of people no longer in the coop, so even if you use lockette your items can still be stolen.
