I'm Korean and I don't particularly like kdramas, but my absolute favorite is called Dream High. It's about a bunch of high school students that have distinct musical talents and attend Kirin Arts School some way or another. They all have different backgrounds and different struggles, but eventually they all meet at this school and with their strenghts and weaknesses, they grow and develop their talents together. The sequel is s***, but the first one is a must-watch.

One of my favorite Japanese dramas is "No Dropping Out -Back to School at 35-". It's about this 35-years old woman that goes back to school. Although she is twice as old as her classmates, she starts to befriends everyone in the class through different ways. I thought it was a comedy at first, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. If you want an emotional roller coaster, go got "I'm Mita, Your Housekeeper". Like the previous one, it isn't exactly a comedy.
