This was posted in the discord private mod report section. I'm posting it on forums, and its possible this could get locked or moved privately because it was stated: "There is no rules on copying designs. This was discussed and we come to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be a viable option." However I think this is a problem. I like Litematica and I use it all the time for MapArts or copy/pasting my own farms +more. However when it comes to copying builds, I think something could be done on behalf of the person who originally put the effort into the build. Whether its asking the other player (who stole the build) to change the design, or personalize it more, literally anything so it doesn't look like a near exact copy. This is similar to the situation ChiTownSounds had with another player, where they used mods or glitches to copy another players locked off design/build. Chitownsounds built a cat farm, and they stole the design/build from his island without permission and made them free. You were not able to access this build at all without the use of glitching and/or, hacks/mods (Freecam/Litematica). Yes, everyone likes free, but horrible morals behind it. And it ruins the other players experience on the server. There is nothing in the rules about Litematica being used to steal builds. Why? It modifies your game and should be listed in the rules just as Freecam is listed. Players should not be able to see what they aren't supposed to see (or stuff that is blocked off) without "permission" as stated in the rules. Why is Litematica different? You can copy a players whole island and see layouts of everything. Are players not allowed to use Freecam without permission, but instead they are allowed to use Litematica and copy your whole island without saying a word? This is a smaller scale but there needs to be something done about it. It's unfair to the good, everyday casual players. (like myself muahahaa) On economy I have an AFK profit shop for all the new players, or anyone who needs money. Other people have their own as well, (Skylandia, Drogo, +more) But they are different designs. I took inspiration from Drogo specifically as I used to AFK there a lot myself. I did lots of trials and errors even though its just basic redstone, was pretty new to eco at the time, and a good chunk of playing with numbers as well. These are two different islands. The top is a picture of ChiTownSound's Cat farm that he did a bit of research on and built. The bottom is their build that they, what I heard, copied with Litematica or block glitching. I visited them, took a picture as it was being built because I noticed some similarities with Chi's and was banned pretty instantly afterwards. These are two different islands. The bottom is the Player's island. Not exactly the same, but obviously copied. Pretty bad morals, nor was I asked prior. Surely this shouldn't be allowed right? Both of these builds were blocked off completely and unable to be seen by other players. When I first started playing Skyblock I copied Grepature's redstone coinflip, and was told off immediately. I ended up removing it, should I just have kept it? Litematica should be on that list in my opinion. ^ I feel there needs to be some rules behind using Litematica as there is rules regarding Freecam. How can you say to someone "Hey, no Freecam allowed on my island, I don't give you permission." But then they can just Schematic your island or glitch out of blocks. Maybe then remove needing to ask permission for Freecam. I messaged the player in-game. What do I got to say to this? Mods need to do something with Litematica, at least make it a rule not to copy builds without permission so its more avoidable. Obviously its hard to track and verify. But if its noticeable that something was copied near identical and the person who built it comes out saying they never gave permission, then something could be done. Is this a butthurt post? Why do they even have the freecam rule? HOW do you prove someone freecammed on your island? You check the builds, moderators. You check who built what, first. You enforce your own rules, make the other person who had NO permission from island owner, to take the build down. So disappointing that this doesnt get done. Add litematica to that list. Disable freecam like sb.net used to have nuker disabled on the server end. Make people unable to fly in to locked islands.
I don't know if I agree on your choice to mention real usernames, bet let's just focus on the topic at hand. I agree they should add it to the Allowed Hacks list where you need an island owner's permission before you can use it. Sure they can't prove it, but yeah they can't prove if freecam is used either. There's no loss from adding it to the list. EDIT: good move on listening to feedback and removing the names.
Freecam is useful on my own island and when I have permission. Use it everyday on here. I don't want them removing it from the Allowed Hacks list.
I feel quite strongly about this. Much of my success on this server has come from my own private designs from ideas that exist no where other than my head. Designs that take many weeks/months trying different iterations and tweaks to get it right. So to see my hard effort copied /stolen is very hard to take. As far as I’m concerned it’s worse than copying someone map art. You’re taking someone’s effort and profiting from it. It’s akin to someone getting a hold of all of Skyblocks custom code, creating a copy of this server and profiting from it. I’d say it’s in the servers best interest to outlaw this as it can only lead to aggro which nobody wants. If you can’t see it without hacks or accessing locked islands don’t take it. While the rules don’t mention Litematica specifically, the act of using it to copy and reproduce people’s works most certainly does violate a number of points in the servers code of conduct. I’m quite disappointed to hear that staff would state that this practice isn’t against the rules.
Is it even possible to use Area Selector or anything on islands you aren’t trusted on? I’m not sure if Litematica is possible. I agree with outlawing copying builds, just like they do with map arts.
Staff could tell if litematica was used to recreate the build using the auto printer. Blocks placement times are logged and litematica builds are done much faster than anyone could possibly do manually.
It's entirely infeasible to make an anticheat block freecam. Sure, some freecams stop movement packets and freeze you but as long as they don't do that it's nearly undetectable.
Me, too! but they have to either enforce their rule since no player can actually tell if someone is using it, or remove the ability to freecam completly, since it is not provable. No, you can fly over islands around you, on eco, even if they are locked.
I understand the difficulty in proving the use of litematica but it should be adequate to prove beyond reasonable doubt. As I said the speed in which it was built can be determined, and that should be enough.
I think this has been fixed, actually. I was testing it yesterday and couldn't get anywhere near the island, even flying waaayyyyyy up overhead
Was the island owner on the island or logged in. You can fly into locked islands if the owner is not there. If ever you’ve seen the message, “you cannot go back to locked islands” then you’ve just been on a locked island.
