There is a convo option that says you can lock the conversation so that no one can respond. This would let staff pass that and be able to respond

No support, private conversations are PRIVATE. If you're uncomfortable with what someone is messaging you, leave the conversation

 

He means, if a moderator is added to a convo, and someone locks the convo with the moderator in it, the moderator can bypass the lock, meaning they can still post. It doesn't mean they can see all convos.
