I'm trying to make squid spawn from the mob spawners. I can't make them spawn even when the spawner is covered by water in a 9x9 area. Can anyone tell me if i'm doing something wrong or that the mob spawner has to be between Y-45 and y-63.

I don't think you can put water around a spawner.

Try putting the spawner just above the water so the squids will spawn.

This... might actually be your problem. The ENTIRE room is made out of glowstone? Like, including the floor? Mobs can't spawn on glowstone, I assume that includes squid. I don't think they would count the water block to spawn in, they would count the surface below it. Try replacing a block or two of the floor with something solid and see if that helps?

I looked this up recently, and I have created a successful squid spawner. First of all, the spawner has to be between the levels 46 and 62, which is pretty darn close to the void in skyblock. Luckily I can fly, so that wasn't a huge problem. So create a pool down between those levels. All I have for my light is 1 piece of glowstone for an approximately 12 by 5 block pool. I then have a spawner in the middle of the pool, surrounded by water which is 2 blocks deep. I fly down there, the squids spawn, and then! I have all the water supported on signs. I stand below the signs, the squid fall through, I wait for them to suffocate and hit them, they die!

So I think your problem is the level, although you may want to fix the light as well. Also, squids DO spawn in water. My farm is actually quite efficient.

Yeah sure. How many you need? Also, my farm is AFK compatible. I stand there, they spawn and fall, they die, I pick up the loot :p

You don't need water for squid spawners, any platform around 60 would work. If you are looking to farm ink sacs exclusively and don't care about prettiness then it would be easier to just make one without water. The squids die automatically due to lack of water and you can basically Afk and collect ink sacs!
