Alright, we all feel better when we see "Thank you for your report, the reported player has been banned" or something like that. I appreciate that the staff want to sort situations out. But something that annoys me is that they'll lock the thread saying they've banned the player, but they haven't even gotten in game to do so yet. I'd rather wait a few hours before my report gets dealt with rather than have a moderator 'resolve' it and have it resolved 3-4 hours later. You get what I mean? Sorry, it's just something that kinda annoys me? Anyone understand how I feel or agree with this? Anyone else think that reports should be kept open until they're actually resolved?
I think it honestly depends on the moderator. In the past I've had moderators that have left the report, specifically telling me 'I'll deal with this when I get online later' but some moderators just warn/mute/ban later. So yeah, for me it depends .
I try to get on and handle things in the next thirty minutes of resolving the report. Sometimes I resolve it, and then I get connection issues and it delays like an hour before I can connect to handle it.
I noticed this a lot when moderating and it annoyed me a bit. I wouldn't handle it unless I was specifically asked to or unless I'm able to get online at the time. I agree with you
If I was Moderator; If I wasn't ingame, i'd put [Benji] in the title to say I'm dealing with the report and when I get ingame I warn them and say "I've warned them" then lock the thread.
true THANK YOU yay an ex mod who understands me lol But that's alright, I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone so I'm sorry if you feel I was. the agree rating exists for a reason That's an amazing idea, most moderators used to do that in the past.
I think I mentioned this when we chatted in-game, but I'll write it here anyway. for the post count Whether or not the moderator closes the thread before or after they've ended up punishing the player will not change when it happens. It won't happen any sooner or later, it just means there's a resolved report floating around. There's not any point leaving a thread which needs not further input open, so I think it's fair. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but some moderators are quite archive-happy - I'm not saying this is a bad thing - and having resolved reports and locked threads lying around annoys them, so they clear them to allow a cleaner forum. I don't personally find it annoying. It's kinda like waiting for the bus. Sure you can check the timetable while you're waiting to see when it's coming, but whether or not you do won't change when the bus comes.
i think its nice to get that closure and certainty that 'the reported player will be banned' or whatever, so as long as i get that im happy, and i trust that the mod will take action soon enough so its not really too much of a problem for me
I mean I do get where you are coming from and mods should not close a report until they deal with something. If they want to do it, they should say "i'll do it when i get back or if another mod can handle it before me they can" type of thing rather than locking. And that peace of mind that the person is handled so you don't have to be fuming over someone not being punished. But again i'm pretty chill about it because its a game at the end of the day and better late than never.
I get that it's just a game and that late is better than never, but some users just feel that they're being lied to in reports. I know I'm not the only one who feels lied to or cheated out, no matter how useless this thing seems.
Try not to feel to cheated about it and if need be, do ask the staff that handled it if they remembered. But most staff now wont be doing this anymore
Okay thank you. I'm just happy that you understand where I and the people who agree with me are coming from.
I don't really care because either way they're going to be punished, but I resolve mine and then I simply go ingame straight after.
