This morning parts of the UK got to witness a partial solar eclipse. This happens when the moon passes infront of the sun temporarily blocking it out of view.

My phones camera couldn't focus on the actual sun as it was too bright, but the clouds helped focus with the lens flare reflecting the eclipse in the glass of my camera. This allowed me to capture a few photos of the clips, and video clips.

exciting and rare to witness in GB

Last year in the April eclipse I drove almost 6 hours to be in the path of totality and it was cloudy the ENTIRE time :blobsad: this was the best picture I got before the clouds completely blocked the sun AT totality. It was still cool to watch the entire area turn to night time for a few minutes IMG_5132.jpeg

Wdym this was the best, this is AMAZINNGG!!

I fricken love eclipses they're so cool, but hardly ever get them here. The last full 100% total eclipse we had in the UK was viewable from Cornwall and was in 1999. 26 years ago .

Imagine driving all that way and not seeing it at all though :/ :') I was watching the live streams of last years USA eclipse and it was so cool

Imagine back in the days when the ancient civilisations saw eclipses. Day turn to night and the sun blocked from view, its no wonder there's crazy superstitions about them lmao

Interesting fact about Columbus, he knew about eclipses and Jamacains didn't, he told them if they didn't give him food, his god, who was more powerful than their god, would make the moon go up in flames in 3 days or something. So once the eclipse happened, they believed him and gave him food, which probably saved his life

Columbus knows how to get the munchies, love it :joy: But yeah! That's what I mean about ancient civilisations know knowing what eclipses are and thinking it's end of days lol you're just going about your casual day watching sacrifices at the pyrimads, and then the sun turns off and everything goes dark o.o
