If this server ever went through a full reset, keep in mind, it would delete 100's of thousands of inactive islands, making the server a little lower, and potentially a lot less laggy, who would stick around? Take note of the italics and underlined sections throughout this thread, it is my way of getting my key points out there. The reason I am asking if players want a reset is because Cypriotmerkz wouldn't know if a reset is a good idea, he probably has the mind-set that if it resets, then everyone will leave. But I don't entirely think that is the case. I know a lot of the donor400's have put endless amounts of effort into spending so much money and time onto this server to get where they are now, but the server is just too big. After having a chat with Cyp not too long ago, it was mentioned that the server size is incredibly big, it's not my place to discuss details but personally I don't think it's a big deal or reflects badly on cyp. I think poor management in the early years of skyblock is slowly catching up to itself. Of course there are methods that could be improved but I don't want to go into details. Main point: If the server reset, would it die? I believe that it could open up to some good things, a lot of the donor400's would stay, I know that I for sure would, on all of my accounts. During a server reset, people will lose a LOT of dedicated hard work on building their mega structures like myself, but I am open for change, I believe that it would help the server for the points mentioned earlier, possible lag reduction due to cleaning all the inactive islands, along with this, the implementation of some new delightful treats to us Skyblockers, yes we get a capital letter, we are now a noun xD. Edit: All purchases through buycraft will remain on the account. Example: I have donor400, all pets, and all kits. This means after reset I will keep each perk. Edit: This includes mods, of course. It's a silly question to ask if mods will be demoted or not, if Cyp promotes you to mod, I highly doubt he'll remove your rank just because of a reset, use your brain lol. Edit: I feel like during a reset Cyp can take the time to either add cool things (new content), fix broken things (most plug-ins), and just overall create a better and smoother server. During this downtime Cypriot could easily remaster the server, give it a new face, and new advertisement. Lets be real, the playerbase has already dropped dramatically in the past few months. It's a 5year old server, and it's only going to decrease with its current community unless something is done. Anyway, leave your thoughts below please.
I think the idea that the server numbers would decrease dramatically was when org needed a reset the first time and the numbers declined. Its not unreasonable to assume people would quit. I notice a lot of people tend to rage quit when something tiny goes wrong rather than making the best of it. I would be sad if there was a reset but i'm going to back up every island I have to a schematic so if ever something bad happens, i have my island. I would say net needs a reset but at the same time it is uncertain, especially with how low the player count can get now, if the server would survive one.
I don't mind either way. The economy is inflamed and I think we should start considering a reset. I wouldn't leave if one happened.
I am cool with it as long as I keep my rank. I am just concerned about my items, I worked hard for them and I don't want to lose them.
Yeah of course all ranks would be kept, otherwise that's basically theft xD. If Cyp could get a team together, or people volunteer to put ideas together for new kits (I think the current ones are fine) then it could be possible. If you think that the player count will drastically change, look at it lately, I saw a thread by dewmellon that showed like 13 people online. The photo could be out of context and was taken straight after a restart, but hey, I don't know the time of it. Smart xD, I would just start fresh and try my damn hardest to get a double island and make it all aesthetic. Oh the things I would do xD
As a few others said, I wouldnt want to loose my island, or rank, or items. But sure, it would be cool.
Rank won't be lost, but a fresh economy would be implemented, maybe another 50 of each head be introduced again as they were a seasonal reward and should still stick around. Maybe a few consecutive days after the restart, cyp uses the random generator plugin and bring them all back.
My main concern with a reset is donor400's and their creative items. I personally wouldn't mind, myself, though. I understand the necessity for it enough to not mind losing my progress.
I think this might be a kind of cool idea. I personally wouldn't mind a reset, as long as I didn't lose my rank. I am kinda neutral on losing my items though, because yes, I would want to keep my items, although resetting the items people have too, would pretty much reset the economy which might be kind of interesting to see, but then again, things such as diamonds, grass, iron, and other stuff that donors get in their kits would most likely become much more expensive, and give people without ranks a disadvantage, because there would be so much less of those items in the economy.
The problem is that the majority of these donors are greedy as s*** and won't let any of their precious pixel items go.
You do realise Cyp can just purge all the islands that have been inactive for about a year or something? That could make up space.
