Hey guys, today marks the 7th year anniversary of the Skyblock map. I know we have a lot of anniversaries, but this one is really important too! September 4th 2011, is when the actual downloadable map that started it all was first released. Crazy to think such a simple thing made so long ago was downloaded at least 5 million+ times (as of 3 years ago :O) and is extremely popular across the Minecraft community still even to this day. Even if its in different versions & forms. No one else really knows this, but 'Skyblock' was actually called 'Skycube' at first and I decided to change it to 'Skyblock' last minute while I was posting the original thread on the Minecraft Forums (link). The original Skyblock was a 3x3 grass cube and I thought it resembled some sort of rubix cube, which is where 'Skycube' came from and I named it that at first. Though it also looked like a big grass block floating in the sky, which is where the name 'Skyblock' came from and eventually I decided to go with that instead as it was more catchy. As always, for anything we decide to celebrate we'll be doing some small but cool things today: - Vote rewards are doubled so you can receive up t0 6x grass & 6x vote keys today. - You can now receive a cool looking map with the following custom recipe (this won't be getting removed after today!) How to craft: - You can also receive a special lore/named grass block that can only be crafted today: - And everything in the webstore is 20% off, not just ranks. We also have a few things in the works as well. We're looking to improve our friends/staff plugin very soon and perhaps adding an ore generator. This means when you mine cobble, there will be the very very very rare chance of receiving either coal, redstone, lapis, & iron ore as well. To keep things as Survival as possible, its extremely rare for a reason and not OP in any way. Which is why we have not considered it before. And diamonds/emeralds are not included in this for anyone that would be looking to abuse this feature. Along with this, there will also be some huge improvements to help reduce any latency as well. We appreciate the constant support, hope everyone enjoys!
