Currently, rooted dirt is one of a few unobtainable items in skyblock, and apart from two interactions, there is no reason for it to be unobtainable. It's not useful, except for being bonemealed for hanging roots and as a decoration block.

There are six blocks that can be converted into rooted dirt when growing azalea trees; dirt, coarse dirt, mud, muddy mangrove roots, clay, and moss blocks.
Growing azaleas on top of dirt, coarse dirt, mud, and muddy mangrove roots results in a 1:1 trade of dirt to rooted dirt. Clay and moss blocks are the only way to "duplicate" dirt on skyblock when taking into account the current price of clay at 12:1 at the traders at spawn, and moss being easy to generate with moss generators.

There are several ways to re-introduce rooted dirt back into the server.

Clay and moss converting into rooted dirt can be disabled without removing the ability for dirt, coarse dirt, mud, and muddy mangrove roots to convert into rooted dirt.

A custom recipe can be added allowing for the crafting of rooted dirt, I imagine something resembling the crafting recipe for TNT, with the sand being dirt and the gunpowder being hanging roots.

The traders at spawn are the best way to allow players to obtain rooted dirt in my professional opinion. It could be similar to mycelium, costing much more than one grass, so it can only be purchased at a loss for the buyer.

There aren't that many items that are totally unavailable, and completely removing rooted dirt doesn't make sense when other methods of duping dirt (i.e. coarse dirt using two dirt and two gravel to create four coarse dirt, piglin bartering, large spruce trees converting moss into podzol) are already disabed/fixed for balancing purposes. It's a neat decoration block, and hanging roots are currently only available via spawn traders, at a rate of 4:1. If this is a contributing factor, and hanging roots are only intended to be obtainable by purchase, then the growth of hanging roots when bonemealed can also be disabled.

    Respectfully, gib rooted dirt?

    This is the best option.

Also I don't like this, regardless of original intention.

I'd support a custom craft recipe, we have one already for podzol which is grass leaves and saplings. So other the non silk-able dirt types could be included as recipies too, given they aren't tradeable either

    Please no :(

I would love to see rooted dirt to be available and I like the idea of a custom recipe. I love to use hanging roots as decoration and would like to see rooted dirt to be part of the available blocks as well.

Maybe another way to add rooted dirt to the game would be via rare keys like budding amethyst?

I really like this as another option. It would give additional value to whatever key it was added to as an added benefit.

I gotta say I really don’t like the idea of adding it as a crate key reward, crate key loot tables are clogged up enough as it is

I’m all for adding it as a trade at spawn, I think it makes the most sense

I support this. I love creating builds that use multiple textures and rooted dirt is one of the few blocks that i want to use in my builds. But why not release it the same as coarse dirt, where it can be crafted. It cannot be that difficult to release into the population on skyblock
