    Remove dynamic pricing.
I assume the purpose was to have players planting a variety of crops, but players are going to plant what they can afford usually transitioning from sugarcane to melkin to wheat. Dynamic pricing has no influence on a players decision.

Additionally it's broken. Currently, wheat is massively reduced while all of the other crops that are farmed en masse are not reduced at all.

I have a suspicion this post is more about wheat being down effecting your profits then it is so much about the erraticism/pointlessness of dynamic pricing.

    Dynamic pricing affects everyone’s profits.
Prices are adjusted depending on number of sales. These prices suggest that no melons/ pumpkins/sugarcane are being sold which is definitely not the case so it’s broken.

How do the prices reflect that none are being sold? Scane historically was positive % and its currently sitting at 0% shows a decrease in price. Melkin historically has been negative but has risen to 0%. This indicates scane is being sold and I suspect that less melkin is being sold.

Of course it's concerning for those who farm wheat that we be the only ones negatively affected by dynamic pricing. It doesn't make sense that it is the ONLY crop being marked down.

Well you can talk about your suspicions. I deal in facts.

Its not the only crop being marked down. Scane is also down from its original positive %. You are wrong saying wheat is the only one that has decreased in price. Good job for someone who supposedly deals in facts. Anyways dynamic pricing is fine. Whining about a feature that was otherwise not a problem and is only a problem when it doesn't go the way you want is rather immature and things shouldn't be removed from the game only when they inconvenience you. I dont see how its broken and the current price shift can be perfectly explained by scane farms being the new meta/starter farm rather than melkin along with an increase in the number of running wheat farms.

Every crop starts at its base price. If that price is up or down 0% then it’s not up or down is it.
So you see Sugar cane is not down from it's original price. The base price is the original price and that's exactly where it is.

So incredibly simple, I’m surprised that needs explaining.

You can provide your input for what that’s worth but if you want to come here throwing around insults based on your poor assumptions and illogical logic, I’ll gladly make you look foolish. But you’re doing a pretty good job all on your own.

You are failing to understand what I am saying. Scane WAS up but has gone down back to 0% therefore it has had a negative price change in the same time frame wheat has. So incredibly simple, I’m surprised that needs explaining.

But you’re doing a pretty good job all on your own. You started this thread to try and remove a feature that no longer benefits you even when its doing the same thing its always done except now its not in your favor. This post exist as a poor attempt to influence internal server mechanics to your benefit

I understand what your trying to say. It's just irrelevant.
Your talking about how prices have fluctuated recently which has very little to do with the issue that I'm raising.
So your rude comments are way out of place.
I'm talking about the dynamic pricing system as a whole.
Dex has explained that it works like this.

"We are adding an experimental dynamic pricing system that affects the /sell prices. The prices will change depending on how often that specific item gets sold in comparison to all other items that get tracked."

So the pricing on individual crops will be adjusted based on the sale of ALL other dynamically priced crops.
The adjustments as they are currently suggest that there is far far more wheat being sold that the combined sum of ALL other crops being tracked.

That simply isn't the case hence the system is not working as intended.

I suspect that you simply don't want it fixed because you farm melkin and don't want it working properly because it suits you. You have a nerve to come here and say that I've suggesting this simply because it suits me when really it suits you that it's broken.

Dynamic pricing does not and never has worked the way it was advertised or described. If they added more things to it, buffed up /warp shop, and got the dynamic pricing actually working, it would be a fantastic money-making and diversification tool for new players. Instead, the prices fluctuate up and down seemingly at random, but have stayed more or less the same over the past year.

When it was first put in place, Dexuby stated
" This is of course a really big and experimental change so we'll see how it goes and if it'll stay in its current form."

I don't know if there were ever any tweaks to how it works, but I agree, It's not working as it was first described.

As far as it adding diversification, I really don't think that will happen. Not as a result of dynamic pricing anyway.
People will plant the best crop they can afford at the time and given the huge task of changing crops, that will rarely happen.

I’ve added this to the bug report section as well as it’s clearly not working as intended. A quick visit to a number of islands shows that there are more melkin and sugarcane farms than there are wheat so wheat should not be marked down more than melkins.
The suggestion to scrap it all together still stands as it doesn’t impact people choice in what to farm with any significance and I believe that was the intention of it.
Yes it boosts the price of other manually collected crops but given sugarcane farms cost next to nothing to build, they are a better option.

Of course loss of profits is a concern, just as melkin farmers are happy to have an increase in profits due to dynamic pricing being broken. But that doesn’t invalidate the reason I’ve given because there’s no denying that it’s not working as it’s meant to.
There is no doubt that melons and pumpkins are the most farmed and sold crop and so should be marked down the most and that’s what would push more people to farm wheat and that’s what would cause more diversification as intended.

that's fair, i also think it's the most sold crop because it's not as expensive as wheat.

Fixed prices that match the fixed price of each farm would be nice. Each farm costs a different amount and the crop value should show that. Idk why we even have / need dynamic pricing

It was intended to encourage and increase diversification. Which would be great if it actually fluctuated in response to supply and demand. But it doesn't.

I would love to get some feedback on this from someone in a position to make a call on this.

    The current situation is this.

Losses due to an average TPS of 12 is 40%
Losses due to dynamic pricing up to 21%
Losses due to taxes is 32%

All that combined means a loss of about 72%

I would like to think that when taxes and dynamic pricing were considered, they didn't factor in the massive loss due to TPS which has close to doubled the overall loss.
Given The TPS can't be fixed (well not easily and not likely to happen soon), Why not get rid of tax and dynamic pricing and then our losses are pretty much what was intended to be originally.

As mentioned Dynamic pricing is not working as intended, and tax goes no where.

As it is now, I would not recommend anything other than sugarcane farming to new players unless they intend on AFKing a lot! They simply won't cover their costs for a very long time.

Taxes and un necessary losses are bad enough in the real world. Why have it in one of the few places we go to escape that?

I don't think 3 more farms would be enough to make the difference. So long as there are more melkin farms than wheat, wheat should not be the most heavily reduced.
It should certainly not ever be the ONLY crop reduced.

Except melkin is divided over two crops where wheat just has one.
