By chance, does anyone have an idea witch version of Minecraft will run best on the server?

 

It may have changed, but 1.8.9 works well, and 1.12.2 works well if you want the newer blocks.

 

I agree. 1.8.9 is in my opinion the best version, however 1.12.2 is good if you want the newer blocks. I would use 1.8.9 so that I can get old PvP

 

Also if you are in 1.8 or so you will see the new blocks as the old blocks. For example you'll see the tall chorus plants as wooden planks and the chorus fruits as spruce planks and when u break it u get potato lol.

 

Even if you use 1.8 the pvp is still 1.12 so 1.12.2 is still the best option

 

1.12.2 is the current best version. Don’t try 1.13 it is very buggy you get kicked every second and it just ruins the fun. Tho I’m sure they will fix it soon or just update to 1.13 and add all the new blocks.

 

On skyblock yes as it runs a 1.12 jar, however on other servers that run 1.8 I prefer it.
