I spoke about this recently in a Mod Help discord thread, the resulting answer was most likely regional taxing has come into effect, Crew was going to contact Tebex about something. I was questioning why Skytitan is $250 for some people but $300 for me. Regional tax potentially answers that.
I’m pretty sure the US maybe but I did discover you don’t get charged tax buying a gift card so just buy the best price in gift card and get a good friend to make the purchase in their cheaper area.
Yeah for sure, I don’t know if this practice is frowned upon (not that anyone will know) but trading a gift card to your friend is all good in the rules either way makes a mockery of even having the regional pricing in place anyway.
I buy everything with gift cards that I’ve traded for. I’ve no idea where they were purchased If the difference in price is due to taxes, then Tebex should be providing that information by way of an itemised bill.
It’s a problem with Tebex, not Skyblock. We don’t have control over how regional tax is applied. Hopefully Crew can come to some kind of resolution with Tebex in the future regarding this.
This is unfortunately something we can not change, we were forced onto Tebex Checkout earlier this year and some states or countries apply a sales tax or VAT. It doesn't make sense to apply a tax onto a digital item but apparently it's required by law now. I can't really encourage anything but from our side, an address is never needed except what may be required by the payment provider you are using. I've told Tebex however that how prices are displayed are confusing and it should at least break down the price and show the additional tax you're paying in the cart/checkout and they've said they will look into doing so.
Thanks Noobcrew. I fully understand why you can’t encourage anything given your position, but to aid the player base, those ‘players’ that now know about this could advise other players. Skyblock gets paid the same regardless of where purchases are made or if tax is applied or not so if players can avoid paying an additional 25% in tax then they will have more to spend in your shop or just keep it in their pocket. To make the in game prices shown with the /buy GUI accurate, you could add the comment “plus regional taxes if applicable” It won’t show the full cost but at least people will understand why that price doesn’t match what is shown on the web store. The taxes are legitimate though. Australia does now charge 10% GST on Digital goods supplied to Australia. I might have to get a new Netflix subscription via VPN and the US. And I totally agree that it makes no sense to apply taxes to digital items.
