This is a bit of an odd suggestion, as it's pretty specific in nature.

Would it be possible to either:
(A) Turn down the global sleep percentage gamerule from 100% to say around 10-15%? This would require only 10-15% of the server to sleep in order to turn it day.
(B) Maybe add it so sleeping in a bed causes phantoms to stop attacking you (without having to complete a full-server sleep)? So for example, I could just hop in my bed, and phantoms would despawn for another couple days.
(C) Add a setting to disable phantom spawning entirely in settings

It seems annoying that phantoms are just permanently existing in the current space because it's impossible to get the entire server to sleep at once. (some user that apparently wasn't chifmu and i'm too slow to remember who i think it might've been emy) was talking about this in chat which gave me this idea

HELLO THE TAGS????? LOL! Anyways I think disabling phantoms on your own island as an option would be nice at least, but I do support this idea anyway!

Is it possible that there is already some sort of setting that prevent them for spawning on your island such as disabling natural mob spawning. For some reason, I absolutely never saw a single Phantom around my island, but when a visit another island, often starting players that must have enabled mob spawning, I get 4-5 around me instantly.

 

I vote for phantoms being a toggleable mob. Always have done ever since the first beta. They kill many new players without armour or good defensive tools and they get upset about being knocked off their isle, they're super annoying when building for others or on my own island, sleeping seems to not always work especially if there are already over 7 phantoms swarming at once. Most new players don't have beds, and don't know about sleeping and when they try the phantoms that had remained still kill them.

Out of any of the new hostile mobs phantoms are by phar the worst

 

I never sleep since I always have /god on. Also, while it's true that's I'm often "inside", I get out from time to time and still don't come across any on my island.

 

The options of B and C could work out with myself of seeing this issue among players about the phantoms when all players in the server can't sleep at the same time.

 

I believe it is not, which I was guessing was causing this, as said in my first message here the other day.

 

We were planning to add a phantom spawning setting for a while now however I was never a big fan of it. Adding some interaction with a bed like you suggested might be a good idea (resetting your personal rest time & removing all phantoms on your island or something).
