Introduction: Hello everyone, I am Overdramatic/Falsetto. But don't let the name fool you. I'm really an approachable and warm person. I love to help others, even if it means missing out on the things I do for myself. Always happy to show new users the ropes. I even participate in contests and trades that aren't beneficial to me, just to keep the community alive and happy. When I'm outside of work, but not at home, I don't have many responsibilities. I like to go out and eat/drink, and I consider myself a foodie. Most of my paycheck goes to eating at restaurants, and drinking coffee or alcohol based beverages at obviously designated establishments. But aside from a financial burden, this doesn't hinder me from taking care of things. I'm 24 years old, living in the deep south of the USA (yes we have the internet now; still waiting on running water). I spend most of time on Minecraft, and the rest at work, and in bed. 95% of my time on Minecraft is spent on the .NET server, chatting, trading, informing, building, and just watching the chat. The other bit of time, I use for building in creative, working on maps for when 1.9 comes out. I aspire to make custom maps for the public to enjoy, my latest being an objective based PvPvE map (codename: HvH) Your in-game name: Falsetto (Previously: Overdramatic) Which timezone are you in? Central Time or -6 UTC Which languages do you speak? I only fluently speak English (learning Japanese). Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?) Wrongfully, yes. I was accused of scamming, after throwing a payment to a player, and then that player trading via chest. I thought, at the time, that it was because you couldn't drop beacons (which I found out later wasn't true), so after I got it, he reported me. When I threw the diamonds, I heard the "pop" noise of him picking them up. (A mod said the player didn't receive the diamonds, but I no longer had them, and no other players were around, so unless ClearLag destroyed them, he was lying.) But because I didn't record it, and only the chest could be logged, I can see why I got in trouble. Ever since then, I record every transaction and most of my game-play to prevent this from happening ever again. What irked me the most was that, besides being an on-the-whim impulse buy, that player had a bad reputation, and of course I didn't find that out until later on. Why do you think you should be a mod? This is kind of a loaded question in that, most answers are a proverbial foot-in-the-mouth, but I'll attempt it anyway. I have little to no experience with legitimate moderation on Skyblock. Meaning I don't know most of the commands, except for LogBlock, which I'm currently learning on my own (I have a local bukkit server in which I have my alternate account do things, and then try to fix them with my main). But what I do know is the core rules of the server, and what kind of questions to expect from new members. I try not to mini-mod unless there is little to no mods on the server (which I hate to say happens a lot), as I know it's actual mod's job to kick, inform, and ban users. But I feel that my experience would be beneficial, as learning the commands wouldn't take as log as learning the tropes of the server. My motivations in seeking a moderation role are derived from a sense of pride in our small niched community. We are friends of all ages, and skill levels, building and farming on our islands. Chatting, trading, lending hands, cracking jokes, and sharing real experiences. I only aim to protect this little slice of the world, that I greatly appreciate. And knowing that by upholding a standard of conduct and peacefully enforcing it, I can create a safe haven for others like myself.. Why wouldn't I try? I hate to get sentimental, but I love this server. I also consider myself very articulate (in the south?, very), and find explaining ideas in multiple contexts to be enthralling, if not simple. As a child, I aspired to be a school teacher, but as I grew, my ambitions leaned more to the digital world. But I've never stopped loving to teach and inform, for the betterment of all. How long can you be active on the server every day? This varies, but in general, I'm on for 4+ hours a day. On days when I'm off of work, and I'm home alone, I will play for 8+ hours, but every so often, I may have an outing to attend to, and won't be on at all (I suspect this is the case for most people). I don't have any daily/weekly responsibilities, and would go as far as sharing my work schedule with staff to know my unavailability. If I had moderation duties, I would log on more. Do you have any past experience as a moderator? I have never been a moderator for a public server. BUT! I was an admin for a small FTB Infinity server, ran by the guys from a group called N3 gaming. I helped my old roommate (friend of the N3 guys) setup the server, as far as the map and spawn goes. And after it was up and running, I helped players with commands for the plugins as well as moderating chat. I never really played on any other vanilla, public server besides .NET, as most of my Minecraft experience has been single player, or local coop. Epilogue: Thanks for reviewing this application. I would love to hear feedback from the community, as well as criticism on what would make my application better. Thank you.
Very mature. I've seen you online a few times, hopefully more to come. I have a good feeling about you. Support.
You said in your app that you "like to hear feedback from the community" however I give my feedback and you dislike it.
Show me the feedback you posted. You just said "no support". No explanation or reasoning why. Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
Your original post should have been, as follows: "I never see you online helping out, no support." I've spent a majority of my time answering questions through /m as not to clutter the chat, but thank you for the feedback. Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
I've never done anything to upset you, why such hostility towards someone who honestly care about this server. Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
Neutral for now. Application wise, it seems fine. Never seen you on before, but it might be due to time-zones. Help out a bit more on the forums. As for the neutral, I'm not sure if yo accept criticism, based on the dislike you gave stel. You might have your reasons, and Stel might not be the easiest person to get along with, but I will make my decision as time pass. Good Luck Though. edit** just saw you on
Not to sound grudge-holding, but Stel has never been nice to me. And I don't even chat on public chat enough to give her a reason not to. I feel that no one automatically deserves kindness, but not blunt hostility. I only disliked her post, for the obvious no support, with no feedback, but also because it's her. And I know I should act like a moderator if I want to be one, but the rating system is there for a reason. I disliked her lack of feedback. Then she went off on me over a thumbs down. After quite a lot of time seeing her in chat, I don't feel like we'd be able to sustain a friendship, and not because of me. Some people just pick and choose, whereas, I'm friendly to anyone who accepts and returns it. It's not that I can't handle criticism, because honestly, I know if I was chosen, Cyp or whoever would probably feel like they are talking a chance on me, and I understand that, but being professional and being friendly are two different things. If someone in the community just doesn't like you, and says no support, without reason, it seems kind of unwarranted. I had to argue a reason out her, and although she's right in that she's never seen me help, she could have just gave feedback in the first place. You gave feedback, constructive criticism and for that, I thank you. Maybe I should have quoted my introductions post a bit more. I've always been a little recluse on the server, and when I help others, I generally /m. So unless you /list, or I messaged you, you wouldn't know I was on. Lately I've been trying to be a part of the community. So I have been trying to inform and chat with users as much as possible. Also no one really knows me because of a username change that came with my lifestyle change (not being Overdramatic of course), as it is gender neutral and frankly, better. So I understand if you don't remember seeing me, I took a couple of hiatuses in my time on the server, and I see tons of people come and go. I guess I've never held one nick or name long enough for people to know it was me. Anyways before I right another book here, thank you. I hate to tack on what sounds like a brag, but I just helped a user with a problem she was having with the tradeshop system, and after an hour of help, I asked her if she had a mac, to which she said yes. Saw the bug on forums and told her to not use the arrow keys but instead enter and it worked. But no one would every know because it was a /m and Kik based conversation. Then someone says I don't help out and I'm like ?????. People ask questions in public and I message them. How am I suppose to get noticed helping if I'm messaging? Talking in the public chat just adds to the already ridiculous amount of spam and chatter. Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
I agree with you on everything you say. Some people are just a little harder to get along with. I get what you mean, when you use /msg to help. The donors and Skygod (not all of them) help by chatting in global, but no one really see's that. People don't really see me on either, unless I /msg them, since it's not like anyone will see me in the chats, since all the donors, and Skygods overwhelm the chat. I can see you modding in the future. 90% Support.
This is one of the harder things to overcome when writing a mod application. I have the same problem, I feel!
I love the application but you almost started a flame war with Stel. She gave her opinion yet you still disagree. I would not like a mod who disagrees with others when it is their opinion. 50% support because of this issue. Also haven't seen you online.
