Yes, if there is a way to make it checked by default, this could very well be a good possibility.

Ah, they should probably set it to that. Just for the sake of convenience.

It is not, but Cyp could do it. You just need to edit the coding.

Yea, this would be super convenient. I have reported in the past and never knew when it got resolved, if it did.

More proof that users like to know what happens to their reports and if they are ever handled.
This is just a courtesy and I don't see why the one staff member here who replies states they don't do it and don't care to. lol
Your job is literally to help people, but ok.

Generally, I only notify the player if its something other than "lock this thread", since they can literally see the thread locked, lol.
But I mean, I guess it couldn't hurt to make it a default setting, or even just to make sure to check an extra box. Its one more click, its really not that big of a deal. Obviously, players like being notified that their reports are done, so who are we, the "helpers", to deny that request.
And youre welcome for handling the reports... 2/3 of them were already done, so I just resolved them c:

Already made a tutorial on how to do this for staff.
Coming onto our forums trying to manage our staff, however, is not getting the best reception. In fact telling staff they are ill trained for not feeling inclined to so something that has never been expected is really rude when trying to be helpful.

Thank-you for your help, but this should have been handled differently such as consulting a super mod who are in charge of the staff here or Sean, who is in charge of our forums.
Staff will keep in mind to notify players when their reports have been handled.

    She did ask.
Edit: the way you worded the question still doesn't seem polite though.

This is more convenient for members. If their report is rejected, it's pretty necessary for the staff member to leave a note as to why. It's overall a better way to handle it and let user know it's been handled. Not sure what that "it's not necessary" reasoning is about. It's completely necessary. All it takes is to cick the "notify user" box, why wouldn't you want to click it?

C'mon, you're above saying things like this, Pile.

Sure, he's a trial moderator, but what he said accurately reflects what's going on. I don't think any of our staff is too lazy to click one box. It really just depends on the report itself. If someone's rate abusing or in general committing offenses that directly affect other people, I'll let the reporter know that, "hey, it's been dealt with; deleted and warned/muted/banned." As for reports that involve stuff like locking, merging, or other things that don't really affect anything other than the status of the page, I generally won't check the box because as Sakura said, they can see it.

You are right, I was obviously upset by the lack of care expressed. He then went on to rate my post "bad spelling" to lash out at me. So I guess we're even. lol #Quality
Then click the box. It really is that simple. When staff are promoted they should have a training regiment. From what I have heard that doesn't happen here, but I think this thread alone shows that it should be a part. It's one click that lets a member know they are being taken care of, but most of all helps them to not feel ignored. As a member here I can tell you it makes a difference to me when you let me know you have taken the time to handle my report because I have taken the time to report it.

I get that ya'll (staff) might not think it's 'necessary' to notify a player when their report has been handled, but it shows them that someone has taken the time to see it and take care of it. It's convenient for the player, and it can't be that much of an inconvenience to you.

    pile is nuts. no chill.

The fact that such a simple, but legitimate, suggestion has caused this much conflict is ridiculous. Regardless, whether you think it is necessary or not, if a simple click of a button can help reassure a user, it should be done.
