"Please gamble responsibly" still encourages gambling, albeit, responsibly. Punishing people for discouraging gambling would not be a good look for the server.
I can see this becoming a bit tricky. It might be simpler to just push on with new anti-gambling rules.

With regards to players handing in map art to staff, you could also enforce upon the creators, that they take the originals back to where they were created which would wipe ALL copies at once and save staff some of the effort. It would also prevent players from keeping them in secret on locked islands.

In fact the creators could overwrite them with new, appropriate map arts so that those who bought them won't loose out entirely and any copies they have won't be wasted either. That should suit those who are worried about loosing the investment they put into the blank maps.
Any map arts that aren't wiped by the creators and are handed in instead, staff could themselves, take them to the creators island to wipe them. Assuming the buyer recalls who they got them from.

If that appeals to the creators, they could get started on it now. Perhaps create a quick map art that reads, "This map art will be overwritten in time!" Then apply that to all of your inappropriate map arts.
You will need to manage the blanks though as you might want to replace 4x4's with 4x4's etc. You could take screen shots of the map arts, and add the map id numbers to the individual panels.

I suggest that overwriting just the rude bits with "CENSORED" is not sufficient.

Those empty maps would all have the same ID so they will always be the same image.

The difficulty with your idea here is that since 1.19 introduced locking maparts I and many creators locked all their arts to prevent accidental or incidental overwriting. So while it is a helpful idea it’s somewhat lost to most of us. (Not that I have any maps that need replacing)

Ahh well. A penalty for those who made/bought them is not a bad thing I guess.

I doubt half the server is affected by this.

The fact that you think there is nothing fun if there is no gambling is concerning. It only gives more reason to remove gambling from the server in my opinion.
I do heaps and I never gamble, I always have projects to do and builds to finish. I'm sure if you turn your mind to it, you'll find plenty.

Are we getting reimbursed for any maps we do have to hand in? I know i have a couple i may likely need to hand in and remove from sale when i next log on but it is quite a bit of material to let go of ? I know i wouldnt get given back grass on stuff bought so i mean the maps we have ourselves

A good chunk would be. You would be surprised at how many maps I thought were okay in my collection, (I removed the ones I knew would get taken down and had a staff member go through the rest,) but actually were taken down. I lost about an sc of maparts, and some are still being debated. Pretty much all maps of women with bigger chests will be removed, and since about 90% Of the people maps are of women a good chunk of people would be penalized.

Sometimes you buy a map and don't think about it because "oh this would've been removed already if it was bad so imma buy it," but that's not the case.

Also, I have heard from staff that some of the stricter rules are a mojang thing, not a skyblock thing, so please don't be too hard on our lovely staff members, even if you are upset (I'm upset about a few of them myself! Emotions are valid!)

Keep in mind some of these maps can be cropped too! (Like the Tsunade 3x3 can be made into a 2x3,)

Also, if any of the maps I have created are axed, I will remake them and if you have proof of purchase you will get a free copy of the new one!

Nah. There is barely any gambling on Eco and it regularly has more players than SB.

coming from someone who also plays eco, economy is half alts, and this whole thing is pointed towards survival more due to the maparts and what not, im saying if they get rid of gambling here on survival it dies

Eco would be far more popular with active players if it had the TPS of /skyblock

I've played Skyblock almost since it's inception and the server did just fine before gambling was much of a thing.
I personally think the focus on gambling has taken away the focus of building and trade of blocks.
If gambling weren't such a thing, more people would turn to selling from shops to earn grass and the server will just go down another path. And in my opinion, a better path, certainly one that better aligns with the intent behind Mojang's EULA.

And I totally agree with this. There are many thing that are know to affect TPS. Like flush farms. I have no idea why they don't outlaw them rather than limit water events.
Flush farms are still around but now stone gens cobble up all the time because water flow is restricted!!
Too often, they make "fixes" that just break other things.

As an eco main, I can assure you we also have plenty of map arts which are being discussed by staff with regards to their appropriateness.

The TPS reason is because of water and crop hoppers all being rendered in at all times on every island which causes a drop in TPS

It has been years of gambling being on the server to the point player have grown accustomed to it, players still have plenty of block trading if you do a little command such as /shops find owned (item name) it shows you lists of shops that have that exact item for sale. There is also plenty of islands that show peoples amazing abilities to build on the server. You can take a look at all the island winners and take a look at those islands aswell.

Yes economy has maparts aswell that might not meet the new rules but its not to the extent of survivals maparts.

This then would suggest that the server won't die if gambling was removed.

Players grown accustomed to gambling thanks to skyblock allowing it, but new players will come and grow accustomed to something else when gambling gets removed (that is if it does or not who knows anymore). Minecraft gained attention to millions of players without the use of gambling. Skyblock just offers something else, and gambling grew like a tree fortunately for some, unfortunate for others, spreading its branches. Give us in-game events.

    my story, kind of?
Skyblock, has player trading, markets rely more on other players and their farms. The "money" is a physical item, grass blocks. Pretty cool, more engaging and what not. Idk, it got me hooked clearly. Lots of players. Fun events. Seeing all the custom island builds is one thing that really caught my eye though. I wanted to create a unique island, strived to be better than others. Server also ran fine, never saw any NSFW maps that I can remember of, didn't know anyone, nor did I know casino's even existed. But that was a long time ago and now it has Uno reversed in my eyes, and everywhere you look is casino's and somewhat inappropriate or revealing maparts. (maparts not anymore though)

later on.. wanted to try something new.
I started playing Economy to specifically make a farm, and trade Balance for Grass.
Liked it even more seeing how relaxed it was and less chaotic, nearly no advertisements in chat each minute. (especially gambling/casino advertisements)
Will say though a good lump of economy is ALT accounts, just because it increases your income by pretty much double if you put the time, energy, and money into building another farm.
Economy is fun to me. Nothing too weird, not too many players in chat. Barely any casinos (mainly because of TPS probably hah), almost no advertisements because its not 100% a player market with the use of /shop command. Lots of weird limits I will say. Economy is missing a lot of stuff /sb has.

    over time..
I now see how, well, weird /skyblock is. Lots of weird/silly stuff happen each day. I hear and see weird stuff.
The past year I've seen multiple semi-nude or just nsfw maparts. Server is now riddled with casino's if it wasn't before.
I love the server its fun to see what people are doing, however, if I was to have a child, under no circumstance would I have or will let them play on the server knowing how it is today. It's an addictive mess to some people. Some are putting skyblock over themselves and its quite unhealthy.

Yes these are good mapart changes, I appreciate the effort mods are putting in. People will leave, new people will come, world is a cycle.

im a noob, also enjoy your day. gambling is for noobs, and youre a noob if you gotta gamble to have fun. and if you think server is running on gambling, you are silly. minecraft is fun as a standalone game. could just add events im cool with events.

however i wont lie there's some cool redstone casino builds, i do think the work put into unique redstone builds is cool.
cough marc cough odie, uh some others i forgot

More players meaning barely any at all, Server's only alive because of the drop parties mainly, And then a couple months after it dies. They need to add smthn new. More skyblock, Spawners are practically useless, you cant make anything from them, Even netherite, everything is just a rare item. There's nothing that actually requires actual gameplay or grinding. Just building your island making a casino and staying afk on it auto advertising, It just gets boring after a while ibr.

    you're the actual goat
