What is even going on? Suddenly forums is loaded down with saltiness and savagery. Like I am so tempted to grab a bag of popcorn and just sit down and read all this chaos going on. Seriously though, why are we suddenly attacking the mods? And that is even going on with the mods? I am honestly curious about what the world is going on. Those are my questions, and I would like to discuss what is happening. Thanks for your input ahead of time, I am going to go make some popcorn.
People need to stop attacking the mods! The mods are doing a good job! there is no need for rudeness torwards the mods.
I think it would be obvious why people thing mods are mean. They don't think they deserve the punishments they get regardless of what rule they break. It is never their fault. So they decide to "weasel" out of it and when they can't they just call out staff. #tantrum Feels like i'm back minding 5 year olds. "Did you eat this chocolate?" "No Ms" "So explain the chocolate on your face then..." But I guess at least the 5 year old could own up to the mistake.
Exactly. And what happens when you don't take responsibility for your actions? You don't get unbanned, simple as that. We don't ask for much on appeals; just swallow your pride and treat people with respect.
True. Sometimes mods do mess up though, but then again they are only human. Oh my gosh, yes! So true.
Are you sure they arent giving respect? Or do we just misunderstand them? No matter what though, if you are a respectable person then you would at least give everyone decent respect.
What came first? The chicken or the egg? Did staff begin disrespecting players first, or did players start disrespecting staff. You know what? It is irrelevant. If players are going to disrespect anyone including staff there is a punishment. You don't have to respect people but you will treat them as if you do. And that is how staff are. We may not respect certain members for certain reasons but we will treat you with respect. If you abuse that, don't expect us to be all kind.
Is it that we all as staff members don't respect you, or is it only some like you said? I've been silent on this issue for a while because I don't have opinions on petty things, but I have some things I want to say. I'm going to go back to what people have been saying to Emerald: in the real world, people aren't going to treat you nicely, and you need to face that reality. This is where everything (recently) started, isn't it? Should we treat each other with respect? Yes. Will it always happen? No. While we aim to treat each other with respect (most of the time), it's hard to when it feels like when a significant number of people are on your case for not doing things their way. Like Pile/Sean (I can't remember which) said in her/his previous reply/post to a thread, "Sean was provoked for several weeks by Emerald," and it came out in two "roasting and toasting" replies on a tbh thread. Same thing that's happening here. A lot of these "threads" are from people that are venting their frustration about mods, but a lot of them fail to remember that it's not only our fault. While staff members might take some responsibility for whatever, the people making these threads (and some players not making them) seem to forget that it isn't only our fault for what's going on here. I guess these issues were just bottled up for a really long time, and it just so happened that this Sean demotion incident was the "perfect excuse" (for lack of better words) to bring about these threads. And nothing will be achieved through ranting either
It's only a few mods, not all. Other than that, I agree with what you say. I do regret making my thread, and I do hope that these threads will stop.
the egg, here's my source. Gyazo - a6d53c36d4ea243028b76722c3dc5df0.png Players aren't the only ones that don't take responsibility for their actions. Last time I checked (well in 2013-14), mods had to sign everything, kicks and bans. Nowadays, whenever I got kicked, no signature. I come online and ask who kicked me (I don't want any harm or to start anything, but it's just kinda like curiosity). No response. No one ever has the balls to step up and say "I did". Well, a few have in the past, and much love and respect to them for not hiding behind a keyboard. Respect is a mutual. I can tell you right now, no one here anymore respects on titles. If someone is going to act childish and immature, they deserve the same treatment. If someone acts childish and immature, they deserve to be called out.
Mutes are signed, kicks have never been. I moderated in 2014 as well, and that was never the case. Perhaps earlier, like in 2013, but there's really no reason for kicks to be signed in the first place. I understand your frustration for some staff not being open to talk about this. You have to understand that most people, when they ask "why did I get kicked?" proceed to flame us and spam us when we respond. I know you may not do that, but many others do. In turn, that disrespect has led to some moderators not responding in the first place, especially if the kicked player knows what they're doing is wrong. Personally I think that we should always respond; as you said, it's a common courtesy. I always do, but, sadly, common courtesies are hard to follow when none are shown back to you.
Really? You signed every single kick you made? As in, every time you kicked someone for spam, the message was "spam -Nocturnish"
I mean yeah I may have looked a bit harsh and abusive at times but I always did my job when I was mod.
As a mod I can say I didn't sign all my kicks, but when asked if I was the one who had kicked them, I could confidently say that I had done that. The only qualms I have about kicking from the current staff team is that I got kicked once and was just curious as to who had kicked me so I asked "who kicked me" and got kicked again for "starting trouble"
Yeah, that last kick was premeditated and probably shouldn't have happened. As for why it did, read the post I made up above and hopefully it help you understand what was going through the moderator's mind when they did that. Honestly, the best way to go about finding out who kicked you is politely messaging whichever mod is online, saying "do you know who kicked me?"
