You have actually stated the main difference. “Intent”
That being said, Drogo has had to redesign red stone devices that were causing too much lag and when asked to do so by moderators, he did.
i dont play econ but I've seen a couple posts on the same issues with the server lagging due to the players on it, something with tps whatever, but I've seen many players agree with the issue so support.
All evidence so far disagrees with this assessment - unless you're of the believe that a 15-25% drop in TPS isn't excessive.
Sure, intent matters - but the result is still the same. All players farms on the server are negatively impacted when something is causing excess lag. I don't think any action against specific players should be taken, but I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to either limit the sizes of or ban entirely the farm design in question
Has a report on the farm in question been made to STAFF?
I believe that is kinda the point of this thread and of the thread by Mijiperki. But at the very least, yes I believe staff are at the very least aware of this.
I'm not too sure if making them illegal is the right way to go, if it confirms that they have a large performance impact we'll most likely reduce their effectiveness by introducing delays/water update limitations or something.
Were you doing some server magic about this issue yesterday or something? Because I know at least one of these farms has been active most of today, but TPS has been solid. o.o
We don't want to introduce a million different new rules for every issue the server may have.
The code of conduct which players need to follow states:
3. While on our servers you will not partake in behaviour and activities which disrupt the game play of other users. This includes, but is not limited to:
All prohibited behaviour as set in the Skyblock rules here
Building machines that can crash or lag the server
Flying redstone machines
Bypassing /ignore, /guest ban and island locks
Egging islands without permission
Obscene builds, map art and banners
Streaming or sharing game play that encourages others to break our server rule
As such we already take action when players do have laggy builds. However we don't need to apply punishment. It is preferred by the community that they can use their builds without trouble. So as Dex said majority of the time we find a solution and not the players. However it is good if players can alter their designs first to reduce impact so everyone can enjoy the server. In a lot of cases we will ask the players to do so if a design causes tps drops. Loaded and unloaded chunks are proof enough.
Jawd is still running his massive flush farm. TPS must be very low and CL is maxing out regularly. This is impacting all the other players on the server. Just wondering why no action has been taken on this one.
I mean, is this not already against the rules? Considering the rules say you're not to partake in actions that can disrupt the server for others?
It is. No idea why it’s not been dealt with. Drogo has in the past designed something that was creating too big a TPS drop on the server. Staff asked me to stop using it or redesign it and Drogo did so immediately.
Perhaps Drogo needn’t have. Perhaps the issue is that this is on Eco where Drogo’s was on Survival?
There is too much inconsistency in the application of the rules.
The player in question knows full well that his farm is a TPS lag. He was removed from his island yesterday and it confirmed TPS went up. He is just back there again.
There used to be a lot of flush farms on ECO but when we were told it caused TPS lag, we all destroyed them. If I remember correctly there was one player who refused and was banned for disrupting the server for others. I don't want to see player bans but theses farms must be removed completely. I see way too many new players leaving because the server is so laggy. Staff PLEASE do something about it or ECO will die.
Damn , getting evicted from my own island.
Fr tho, clag has been brutal lately. Add item overflow removal to all of your farms. This will limit the amount of entities that just sit around when you can't sell em all or forget to enable your /sell all auto commands.
My farm isn't even that bad. After I was excited tps "went up" maybe .5. Going from 10-11 tps to 11.5 isn't that big of a different and shows that there is other major reasons for lag on eco. It's not very fair to get evicted from my own island for a miniscule increase in server performance. If the server adds another way for acquiring mob loot and XP I'll reconsider my farm.
Meg took out 2 farms and it instantly made 10% difference to the tps from 18 to 20. It is well known that water flush farms cause TPS lag. The entities from overflowing crop hopper farms will add to the CL but do not cause TPS lag. We all took our flush farms down as we all respect the server and the players. It would be nice if everyone could follow suit. As for getting mob loot - make a large dark layer and run around killing mobs.
Before I go into anymore detail:
Reaching max clear lag entities and & the flush farms are 2 separate issues, ultimately both need to be resolved but it's not 1 fix for both.
I am having further discussions regarding this and I will respond here when I have compiled by notes.
For now just know, the flush farms are ruining Economy's TPS and that this is a big issue we are aware of.
Thank you c:
I was at spawn most of the day. And TPS was still 10. There is a bigger issue here than just one farm.
Possibly your 4K bats?
I don't think your farm / flushing farms in general are the only cause of poor server performance. However, they do cause a noticeable negative impact and I'd love to see something done to address that. Whether it's size limits, changes to mob spawning rules, a /warp hostile...whatever.
Regardless of the outcome here I'm kinda hoping when they finally roll out the 1.16 update that they move the server to paper and have more optimization plugins
