My builds dont grow on trees sorry

 

I am unable to break or place any blocks on my island!! ;( and Christmas Is coming up... how am I supposed to get my friend something!
I've tried:

• restating my minecraft up and refreshing a new island
• I've also tried getting my friend to place blocks and she cant either
• I also cannot open any chest.

but I can at someone else's island if they trust me of course.and that doesn't work! can you guys give me some suggestions on how I can be able to place blocks again?
