About 7 years ago, I bought a white Sony VAIO laptop and it worked well for the first couple of years before I discovered PC games :p
And as many of you know, my laptop is absolute sh** now. I get around 3-11fps with Minecraft on the lowest settings, one bar on LoL, and my fan probably blows your ears out on teamspeak because it's so loud and overheats too often. My laptop also has a buggy power input and shuts off randomly. It sucks balls when I'm trying to write up papers and stuff.

So I think it's time for me to get an upgrade. Lol. This baby's gotta go.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

Get a desktop if you don't leave your house with your laptop enough.

Building a desktop is easy and they are always more powerful than their laptop counterparts.

I have a Y40 along with my desktop.

If you HAVE to get a laptop, get a Y50.

And I hope it goes without saying, don't go near Alienware for anything ever.

Y50 is worlds more powerful than a Y40.

    Depends what Pizza's budget is.

    600 or 1k, I'd still suggest a desktop.

True, but i SUPERBLY WON'T recommend you to buy my NOEBOOK i am using. i have an Acer Atom something. it is a tablet notebook, but quite fast but not fast enough for games. ok change in words, it is bullshit.
I would, however, get something that has over 2.00GHz. my laptop has exactly that, and it is as laggy as hell. but it was duo core? i need to know my dads work computer name to tell you this, but it is EXTREMELY fast, probs as fast as a desktop (a normal one). jeez, i am telling stories. oh yes my laptop is nearly 9 years and still working; it overheats a lot.

Acer aspire 7750g. I have that one. It's good for Minecraft. I always have around 70 fps and other games like cod or bf3 work fine. so it's kinda good for the price

I recommend a Desktop. I bought one for £420, it's been really good and it gets 200+ frames no problem.

Alienware is the worst crap on this planet. You can get the same power from another pc which is 500$ cheaper. Makes no sence to buy that, same goes for iphone :D Now I get the hate xD

1k or less, that's pretty much it. Been saving up for an upgrade for a while, but I don't want to spend too much.
I don't have a budget set in stone, though. I'm just looking to weigh out the pros and cons, and then evaluate prices.
I'm not looking to buy a desktop, I do have to commute quite a bit with my laptop in hand.
    Is there a big difference?

Not much of a big difference except from personal experience the Lenovo Y50 has an absolute trash display, and the specs are a bit better, but its still not worth the $1000. I say you should just get the Lenovo Y40 if your on a tight budget, and wouldn't mind the slight difference. Still the Lenovo Y40 can handle intense gaming.
