Not really sure why we can't do this already but I think we should be able to put keys into item frames. This way we can show what keys we are selling and show off rare keys and such.

 

Hold your keys dirt etc in your off hand and crouch click the item frame, that works and always has done

 

What apple said is correct. You can place keys if you know how.
